Some women love and love vibrant colors. We all know the lady who loves red at every opportunity, including her car, and surrounds herself with red! For our Over 50 Style Edit this month, Cindy and I discuss the colors in your wardrobe.

I really struggled with this post because my passion has been towards silent neutrals ever since. I let my hair be natural. Since it started going white, my contrast has become softer than before and my hair has lost the “punch” I get from adding highlights.

These days, I love soft looks like the one above. They feel peaceful, quiet and do not tire the eyes. I decided to go through some old photos and see if I was wearing very bright colours. They were few and far away.

I LOVED THIS BRIGHT PINK A FEW YEARS AGO, BUT NOW I LOSE ME IN THE BACKGROUND… ESPECIALLY I MISSED HOW IT WAS USED WITH BLACK.

We’ve often talked about personal color analysis and ultimately the palettes you can follow. Here. Many women succeed with a structured color palette that they stay within. Knowing which colors suit them best gives confidence. Other women even oppose the idea of limiting themselves and feel most secure by wearing whatever they feel like.

I decided to land somewhere in the middle. I like to have a palette, I prefer soft neutrals but at the same time I want to be free to wear whatever I like.

You could knock me down with a feather when that happened J. Jill A-line linen dress jumped off the shelf last week and insisted it was for me. I packed it for my trip to Canada and I couldn’t wait to wear it! Something about this color makes me feel cheerful whether it pleases or not.

I love the shape, fabric, pockets and fitted sleeve of this dress. What surprised me the most was that I wanted this green instead of my typical blue. Here she has a style of dress that I didn’t expect to like, but I liked! I added tan sandals and a tan woven belt… neither are in my best color palette.

Here, I style it as an eraser over some white jeans and neutral wedges. I prefer to style most button-down shirts this way and hope to wear them that way. most often.

While I mostly wear a palette of softer neutrals, this latest breakthrough encourages me to try a few pops of color with accent pieces this summer. We’ll see how long this takes!
