Dressing Room Diaries: Warm Yellows and Cool Blues by J. Jill

It was so much fun getting dressed again last week. I only had time to stop by a few stores, so today I have a small dressing room diary from J. Jill featuring warm yellows and cool blues.

If you’re new here, welcome. A locker room diary This is when I go to a local store and do a trial session to see what’s new and show you how it looks on a woman over 25. For reference, I’m 1.64″ tall and weigh about 142 pounds. I have broad shoulders, straight hips, a long torso, and long arms. I usually buy one size larger on the top. You’ll see me trying on clothes in colors and shapes that may or may not like me because I want you to see what’s in stores and get some style ideas. To help you understand how things are going, I’ll tell you what sizes I wear.

J. Jill has made it easy to size each style so that it can normally be found in sizes XS-4X. The petite and tall models are still available in some popular styles, and all sizes are priced similarly.

This casual cotton tee is available in eight solid colors and two prints. I got the blue you’ll see me wearing but this yellow is definitely fun! I went for a medium to be loose and cranky. I’m wearing it with these boyfriend jeans I really like the fit. I would probably fold the hem one more time to show off a little more ankle with these. I’m seeing a lot of boyfriend jeans around this summer, and I’m wondering if they’ll hold up in the fall.

i tried it is nice little Kantha coat I went ahead with a few different items because I thought it was beautiful. A little too angular for my square figure, but just a beautiful pattern and color. It is a hand-made kantha stitch on a floral print that creates a quilted texture from 100% cotton. To look. I’m wearing it with Pure Jill tank and high waisted cropped jeans on the left. On the right, I’m wearing high waisted full leg jeans. I’m trying to decide which silhouette to choose. Which one do you like most?

Here are the same high waisted jeans, this time petite in a light grapefruit color. I prefer the petite version that I bought in the blue jeans wash. The leg isn’t as wide as I saw last spring, which makes them easy to wear. One reader noted that she noticed wide legs narrowing, and I think it’s par for the course. Trends tend to be more moderate the longer they’ve been around.

This Pima cotton round v-knit tank top It is a very useful spacer for summer. It comes in five colors. I’m wearing cyan. I resized and rolled up the hem, then just tucked it into the waistband. Often times I find this easier than putting the whole bottom in, plus it adds some interest to the figure.

This oversized poplin tunic shirt is wide and long all over. Even though I’m wearing a petite, I feel like it’s overpowering me. I would land in a petite S and probably wear it with a pair of pants or cuffless leggings to help make my legs look as long as possible. It comes in two other solid colors.

This is it kantha jacket again, this time on some cotton gauze. I am a big fan of cotton gauze for summer. this skirt It has an elastic waistband for easy on and off. The petite is a full 3″ shorter so I think this would be a better option for me. It only comes in white. Top It comes in three colors and a pattern. I’m not sure how I feel about the skirt and top… it just feels a little bulky. I might prefer a thinner t-shirt or tank top. What are you thinking?

I was really worried to try this poncho. The tassels add a festive flair to it and the tie zips up nicely at the waist to give your silhouette some shape. I would probably wear it overnight white tank with white thin knit trousers or leggings and some strappy metallic sandals And silver earrings. It also makes a great swimsuit cover-up.

This embroidered sleeve popover top is 100% cotton with an artisanal flair. It is 100% cotton and super light. I threw it over white pants, but I think it would look great on a skirt or blue shorts. Since the sleeves are 3/4 long, I’d probably prefer the petite to cut the proportions down a bit.
