Chuck Taylor Platforms and Non-Platform Platforms
While I think non-platforms actually look more stylish, I prefer platforms for comfort (there’s apparently a huge difference – see comfort section below) and a little height increase. Since platforms can look a little younger, I try to balance them with more grown-up pieces like a long shawl or a tailored jacket and a high handbag.
Fit and Sizing
These Converse platform sneakers are slightly oversized but also narrow. I’m usually between 5 and 5.5 on most brands and first tried the 5.5 which is very long inside the foot but the 5 turned out to be a great fit. The width also suits me well, though I’ve heard people with wide feet find the Converse narrow.
Comfort
Honestly, I find platform sneakers to be cushiony and comfortable, no need to break out for me. I’ve had dozens of messages from some of you who have both platform and non-platform Chucks, and the platforms’ significantly More comfortable than regular sneakers. On mine I commute, I can spend a day with the kids at the zoo and other outings, and I’ve never had to force them in.
As a busy mom my only gripe is that I have to tie and untie them every time I wear them, so an inside zipper would be a dream add-on to make this process faster! Here are a few other ways I’ve worn mine:
