No time restrictions, no awkward moments, no opening tabs. Also, don’t be mistaken and think DIY is low-budget. I like to call it fabulously affordable! Just because it’s do-it-yourself doesn’t mean your bedroom shot has to be put together cheaply! If social media taught us nothing, it should have taught us how to be adept at choosing essential items for do-it-yourself photo shoots or reels.
Colorful backgrounds, trinkets, pillows and so on, there are so many options to make your shoot unforgettable! Think about what you want and go for it! Take notes about different concepts and even poses!

1. Enter Correct Headspace
Not so long ago, there was an article on TCF all about affirmations. So before you change up your space or rummage through the drawers to find your favorite lace socks, take some time out. This moment is for you!

You are your own director! A “classic boudoir” is a woman’s bedroom or private sitting area (hence the French word for “boudoir”). But in 2022, we do whatever we want! So set the stage wherever you want!
Want to stick to the “bedroom” scene? Make a nice bed with nice linens, fluffy pillows or not! You can be as clean or messy as you want! Have a dope window with a great view? Take a photo facing the horizon! Do you want to make a kitchen scene? Clean or don’t clean depending on what’s on your mind! Do you have a solid colored or even textured wall? Use as your background or create a background using linen, fabric or a pre-made background! This is your DIY moment!
Now comes the moment we’ve all been waiting for… dress up for your DIY Boudoir Shoot! Of course, what to wear or not is completely up to you and your comfort! So consider going outside of your own box and trying something new that will make you feel sexy, sultry and sensational!

You have set up the scene and created your view (or it seems). You know (or at least have an idea) where and how to pose. Great! What about the camera? Camera? Mobile phone? I recommend a tripod to have freedom of movement. If not, brace your phone using what you have!
Play with lighting with a ring of light or whatever you have. Don’t stress over what you don’t have and focus only on what you have. Do a few test runs to check the range. Use small pieces of paper to mark where you need to creatively flow! Do you have a friend who will be a photographer for the day? By all means, use them or spend a day with your best friends and take turns! Solo or sheet music, the key is to have fun!
