Monday Thoughts: How To Tie My Button-Up Shirts And Get In Shape

[ad_1]

I hope you did something fun for yourself this long weekend. I read, I shop, and I punch my body. I’m kidding, but I started a program that made me run regularly to the bottle of Tylenol to get fitter. I’ll be 67 in a few weeks and I feel like it’s time to improve my game.

I had some exercise classes for the weekend, so I went to the Athleta store on Friday and bought a new pair of shoes. these Brooklyn Ankle pants. They are great for work, travel and everyday life.

Pilates

Saturday I got my first Pilates class. I have taken other Pilates classes but not for many years and they A lot different. Here is how the Lagree technique differs from other forms of Pilates:

“The Lagree Method uses tried and proven strength training techniques that are not unique to Pilates. The combination of these strength training techniques and low-impact qualities translates directly to rapid results. While Pilates relies on breathing, concentration, control, centering, flow, postural alignment and precision. Lagree Fitness relies primarily on effective form, range of motion, pace, duration, sequence, transition, tension, and plane of motion.” In other words, harder.

I had a great instructor, and for me, as always, I overdid it. On Sunday, I was really feeling it. To stretch things out that morning, I took a yoga class and my butt was so sore it was hard to sit on the mat! I’m planning to sign up for some personal training to learn how to add free weights to my routine without hurting myself. Ha! That horse left the barn. But seriously, we lose muscle fast as we get older, and I need to step up my game to maintain and build what I can. Plus, it’s great for my bones.

All I could do after Pilates was read, so I pulled myself together and finished. Evelyn Hugo’s Seven Husbands.

It’s harder than ever to keep my eyes on the page when the scenery is this beautiful, but this book managed to grab my attention. There’s a fun twist at the end that surprised me.

I’m reading this week Obstacle is the way, by Ryan Holiday. A somewhat cult classic, a Wall Street Journal bestseller. It is inspired by stoicism, which focuses on the things we can control (our thoughts, feelings, and actions) while accepting things we cannot control, such as the actions of others or the natural course of events in the world. We. It’s the first of a series written by this guy and it has many positive reviews.

How Do I Tie My Button-Up Shirts to My Waist?

You often see me in my button-down shirts. I do this for many reasons. Some shirts seem too long or bulky to wear. Sometimes I prefer a less structured look that feels more comfortable.

A few readers asked me to show you how I did it, so I got a reel is hereIt shows my exact steps.
