Other than a breezy collection of them “whisper” layered shirts and that’s fine carrying caseI didn’t get much find from Madewell (J.Crew’s more casual sister brand). They’re known for their knits and vintage style jeans, but they offer so much style (10+ denim cuts!) I felt a bit overwhelmed browsing the web.
Nori’s teacher is getting very petite this year and I often find myself asking where her jeans or sneakers come from. Looks like he worked at Madewell and referred me to a few of his petite-friendly favourites. I recently partnered with the brand in this Instagram video (if you want to see some of these pieces in action) and wanted to share some additional hits and shorts from everything I’ve tried! one. Double Faced Shirt Jacket – for sale
This is my favorite Autumn find from the brand. As someone who doesn’t have the cool factor to rock more trendy “packs,” I like that this feels like a cross between a soft sweater and a classic layered shirt that you can wear for weekend activities or to pick up from school.
The knit ribbed fabric has a nice quality feel, drapes nicely, and is very comfortable and comfortable against my skin. The shroud is key, ensuring it sits well on top of other tops and doesn’t feel bulky in a petite frame.
2. Perfect Vintage Jeans
“Perfect vintage jeans”AinsworthThe wash is probably the classic Madewell jean in its most popular cuts and washes. Ainsworth is a medium blue wash if you’re looking for a broken vintage denim look without too much stretch. In keeping with the product description, I would size down if you want a more fitting look. Recently I was between sizes 24-25 at other denim brands and got a size 24 here but the waist is a bit loose. So, if you usually wear 24 in a denim, wearing a size 23 will work.
These jeans look cropped in the stock photos, but they hit below my ankles (I’m 5 feet tall) which I know some of you prefer. After trying them on with different shoes, I couldn’t get out of my comfort zone and finally cut off their shoes. my jeans cutting training. What are you thinking? Quick note about this cardigan! I have a lot of questions about this camel sweater on IG but I have to say it’s back. It itches a little, it’s wider and looser than I expected, and it took a lot of work and pinching to get it right in my frame. A similar sweater that I would highly recommend is this under $50 waffle knit cardigan. This is also looser/humpbacked in design, but overall smaller and fits shorter, so it’s more petite-friendly and feels more comfortable on bare skin.

If you’re sensitive to itchy knits, it was one of the most comfortable and soft Madewell sweaters I’ve tried. The square neck on this one has a smaller opening than most, so you can wear a regular bra with it and it’s still appropriate. The sweater naturally hits my hips and you can fold it underneath to make it look shorter. You don’t even need to tuck it into your pants as the bottom is banded. I just folded the bottom up and it just stayed!
4. High Waist Slim Straight Jeans (Moreover corrugated)
I bought these after trying on the Perfect Vintage jean and found it to be a pretty good fit without any adjustments. Compared to the Perfect Vintage, the length on these is slightly shorter and the ankle opening is wider/less tapered, making it a little easier to tuck the booties in (see below). You can also see a photo of how it pairs with sneakers at the top of this blog post. Size 24 Petite worked with a small gap in my waist, but not as much waist gap as the Perfect Vintage jean from Ainsworth.
For my shortcomings, their signature Larsen and Caldwell blazers look good online, but look too long and baggy to me. Their loose coats also made me look like a adorning kid. I would stick with their sister brand J.Crew for these categories as they offer small sizes or look for “cropped” jackets in the name!
