Increase your intensity by increasing strength, not endurance

“If you’re a runner or walker who misses the intensity of pre-injury workouts, try increasing the incline of the treadmill instead of speed. Besides strengthening your legs, you’ll reap cardiovascular benefits. Additionally, if you use the incline more, you shouldn’t feel much pull on your ligaments in the hip flexor area.”

“The handrail on the treadmill offers support to women trying to balance the baby bump or just trying to build their balance and core strength. The incline is fine as long as the women hold onto the rails of the treadmill. The combination of front-loaded baby weight and incline can cause imbalances when walking or running. The bars are to help you stay steady. If you feel like you’re holding onto the bars for dear life, lowering the incline and lowering speeds is good control. ”
