What to Wear with a Colorful Plaid Blazer: 3 Ideas!

[ad_1]

Plaid blazers couldn’t be more classic, but the latest ones are brighter and more colorful than we’re used to. There are many wonders, what are you wearing with it? Here’s a cute Talbots jacket that I designed in a lot of fun colors and three ways.

1. Look #1 – Traditional – Toned

The easiest way to style if you’re not used to wearing a lot of colors colorful plaid blazer is to tone it down with a darker, classic color worn underneath. My plaid jacket is a combination of dusty brights: dusty green, blue, orange and purple, I wear a dark rusty sweater to calm this unusual mix and make the outfit look a little more conservative. (similar)

Rust is not an exact match for an orange. That would be pretty brilliant, but it’s close enough and it works. I also added rusty brown booties to ground the look. Suede is the perfect texture to complement this Shetland tweed.

Style Tip: solid dark top + colorful patterned blazer = Toned.

2. Creative and Fun – Be Creative and Have Fun Mix Color Prints

For every woman I know who likes a conservative look, there is always someone else who is just the opposite and who likes a very creative look. How creative can you get with a plaid jacket – a lot! All you have to do is mix the prints. I confused the checks with busy Fair Isle print sweater, and it is working.

This type of mixing may seem intimidating to some, but you must remember to keep colors similar and mix different sizes of prints. All the colors on the jacket match the colors on the sweater and the print (check) on the jacket is small and the print on the sweater is much bigger. Keep these two things in mind when you go to mold mix and you won’t have a problem. Tip: Colorful print top + colorful print blazer = creative and fun.

3. Mostly Modern

The third way I style this jacket, which I call mostly modern. What’s that? This classic plaid jacket with these new colors worn under these new colors. I could have worn blue, purple or orange as the jacket had all these colors but I loved the green as it matched my colour. This look is somewhere between toned and creative. It’s a bit trendy, so it’s mostly modern.

Here is this sweater without a blazer. This is a bright green cashmere V-neck It comes from Nordstrom and comes in other beautiful colors too. Remember: plain shiny top + colorful pattern blazer = mostly modern

Notice that the only thing I changed in all these looks was the top, and the result was three different looks with 3 different vibes. Are You Traditional Toned, Creative and Fun or Mostly Modern? Could it be all three depending on your mood? I would like to know. This beautiful jacket is a great wardrobe find and currently on sale at Talbots, so check it out!
