The viral TikTok (or #BeautyTok, according to some) trend “retinol sandwiching” is one of the hottest trends in the beauty industry… more than 22.5 million views and growing.

But how does it work and how do we do it?

Janna Ronert, IMAGE Skin Care The founder and esthetician describes her skincare technique as “using a layer of moisturizer before and after applying retinol so it’s a ‘sandwich’ between two other product layers.” The idea is to limit the skin irritation that retinol can sometimes cause.
