The Road to Relaxation – A Well-Styled Life®

[ad_1]

Good Friday ladies and welcome to Maui! Our last minute getaway to this beautiful island of Hawaii was just what the doctor ordered. My daughter and aunt joined us, so we’re doing some kind of family reunion too.

It only took a few hours for island time to kick in and I could feel my blood pressure starting to drop. Long walks on the sand, listening to the waves crash, watching the sunset… We needed this little getaway.

Yesterday we decided to sneak away from the resort and take the long road trip to Hana, a small place at the end of a long and winding 2.5-hour road along the coast. Along the way, we passed roadside stalls selling coconuts and leis, waterfalls, and lush greenery. We were so excited to arrive in Hana… what an idyllic place this must be!

We had a good laugh when we arrived, SMALL though weird and cute. As it turns out, the road to Hana is adventure… this trip is all about the journey. We slowed our pace on the way back by visiting a waterfall and getting local coffee and treats.

In the early afternoon, we were more than ready for a dip in the ocean and we found the perfect place called Secret Beach! A long stretch of sand on Maui’s North Shore. This is exactly the kind of beach getaway we came for.

The water is warm and the most gorgeous shade of turquoise. We swayed in the waves… so big that at one point my feet fell to the ground and I rolled on the sand until my daughter ripped me off. Felt like I drank a gallon of salt water.

At one point (who knows when?!) I became the youngest member of our immediate family and my kids started keeping an eye on me… crossing the street, carrying big bags, rolling in the waves. When did this happen?

On the way back to our resort, we saw humpback whales breaching and swimming right off the highway! It was absolutely magical so we pulled over to enjoy the show.

Today was a special day to relax, adventure and spend time with my family. I hope you have a nice weekend with yours.

Oh and just for laughs… Thursday, senior year in Maui, I discovered here that screening over 65 has a whole different meaning.

Thanks for reading ladies and don’t forget to wear what makes you feel safe.
