If I had to choose a shoe style that I reach for more than others, it would definitely be flat. If you’re someone who reads my blog often, this is probably obvious because I wear them to many of my outfit posts! There are many options for flat shoes, and with that comes a wide variety of degrees of comfort. The older I get, the more I’m concerned with happy feet and I know many of you are too. The Most Comfortable Loafers and Flats for Women Over 50 and 60

1. Birds

I tend to gravitate towards a smoking slipper rather than a real loafer. In general, because the fabric is softer and the sole is more flexible, they are comfortable for me like wearing slippers. My favorite smoking slipper is my Starling flat from Birdies.

BIRDS SHOES

You’ve seen me wear these Birdies over and over because they’re incredibly comfortable and don’t pinch my bunions. They come in a variety of materials such as suede, velvet and leather in a wide variety of colors and patterns.

2. Loafer DrivingS

Driving loafers are even more comfortable than smoking slippers, as their soles are very flexible. There are usually rubber pebbles on the bottom of the shoe to grip the pedals, giving them extra cushioning for walking.

3. Vivaia Washable Flats

Several AWSL readers recommended this brand. Mary says they are “very comfortable in and out of the house.” “I like them better than my Birdies and Rothys for soft comfort while being supportive,” Deborah said. “The claim that time is not broken is true,” said Marcia. very comfortable! Many styles and colors. And it’s machine washable, which is great for a travel shoe. This style Very cute with the bow details.

4. Munro Geena Loafer

These are the only pairs I own that I would consider real loafers. I wasn’t sure it would suit my style because I’m not really into ready-to-wear, but this winter I found myself reaching for them. I love the volume they add to the lower part of my silhouette when I wear chunky sweaters or wide-leg jeans.

5. Sam Edelman Loraine Loafer

These loafers look a lot like the ultra-popular Gucci loafers, but so much easier on this pair of wallets! They come in many colors and prints from smooth soft leather and come in large sizes. I’ve heard a lot of people rave about this style and how it has become their favorite shoe.

6. Vionic Ballet Flats

Signed by Vionic, this pair is ideal for transitioning into the warmer months of spring and summer. They offer “three-zone comfort for enhanced stability with a deep heel cup, superior forefoot cushioning, and midsole with superior arch support.” They are also available in large sizes, I know that factor many of you are thinking about. Plus, AWSL reader Rhoda says the Vionic is for her!

7. AGL Head End Straight

I’ve been wearing my black AGL ballet shoes for so long that I had to untie them to extend their life. At the time (18+ years ago?) it was a great investment that paid off as they were classic and very comfortable. I’ve worn them so often that it costs pennies to wear them. I love the Chanel vibe and the silver buckle strap. “I love my AGL flats – I have three pairs (black, navy, nude),” AWSL reader Adele said.

8. Naturalizer Flexy Flat

Here’s another ballet flat that won’t make you cry at the end of the day! The Flexy Flat from Naturalizer features N5 comfort technology that includes a flexible sole, lightweight materials, extra cushioning, heel-toe stability, and a breathable lining. While perhaps not the prettiest, it gets the job done, often under $50 and comes in ample sizes as well.
