I have three pairs of waterproof Birks now, so I decided that yes, they were comfortable and it was time to invest in a pair long term. It seems that every time I pick a comfortable shoe, a pair from Vionic makes the list. These Mattie flip-flops would be perfect to order now and wear with all your casual summer outfits.
Gentle Spirits, Kenneth Cole Laniey Sandal
I really like the unique look of the wide cross straps on this pair of sandals from Kenneth Cole’s Gentle Souls brand. They’re currently under $100 at the time of sale and are also available in black and tan.

Ilse Jacobsen Tulip Lace-Up Sneakers
If you’ve been in AWSL for a long time, you’ve probably seen an outfit featuring my Ilse Jacobsen Tulip shoes. These super comfortable slip-on sneakers feature a suede upper with a supple rubber sole. They stretch and mold to your feet and are cool in hot weather. I machine wash mine and they look brand new. Remove the insole and wear jeans etc. into the machine with cold water and allow to air dry. I love the geometric pattern of this couple!
Cole Haan Geneva Chain Loafers
I love the volume the loafers add to the lower part of my silhouette when I’m wearing chunky sweaters or wide-leg jeans. These Geneva Chain Loafers by Cole Haan offer a comfortable fit and the chunky chain is perfect for adding a playful touch to any outfit, whether it’s for work or social events.
Naturalizer Mira Flat
Pain-free, happy feet are at the top of the priority list here, so I love that these are made with Contour+ Comfort technology and a cushioned insole.
Kind Souls Kenneth Cole Soraya Loafer
Here’s another shoe that won’t make you cry at the end of the day! Kenneth Cole designed Soraya Loafer features arch support and a cushioned footbed with soft, breathable leather. You can also get them in camel color (called “Brandy”) and bronze (called “Sand”).
Boots
Western boots have a bigger-than-usual display in my store this year, so I’m hoping they’ll be on trend this fall. I haven’t tried any of them, but I plan to.
Vionic Estilo Lug Bootie
Pull-on boots can be difficult to put on and take off, especially if you have back or flexibility issues, so I really like that these boots have a handy zipper. Lug-soled boots were in vogue last year and it looks like this trend will continue this fall and winter.

Asics Gel Running Shoes
I also bought these Asic sneakers as they are very padded. Yes, they are labeled for running and I only run to avoid a speeding train, but they will be great for walking and whenever my feet need extra cushioning. They come in several colors.
Ecco Street Lite Sneakers
I have several pairs of Ecco sneakers and I love them. If you’re going to spend a long day standing and know you’ll be comfortable, these are the kind of shoes you can reach. And look stylish.
Allbirds Tree Dasher 2 Running Shoes
I love my AllBirds, which flexes easily and offers tons of cushioning. They are breathable and super stretchy. They have cushioned midsoles for all-day comfort and support, and are also machine washable.
