Summer Skirts and Shorts from Talbots

Good Friday ladies. Today I have a dressing room diary full of summer skirts and shorts from Talbots. This post has gotten so long I’ve decided to split it in half and will post the second one either Sunday or Monday.

If you’re new here, welcome. The locker room diary can see what’s new and how it looks on a woman over 25 when I go to a local store for a trial session. shoulders and straight hips. I have a long torso and long arms, so I usually get one size up. I try on clothes in colors and shapes that may or may not spoil me so you can see what’s in store and get style ideas. To help you understand how things work, I tell you what sizes I wear.

This is a T by Talbots dress 100% cotton. It only comes in misses and minions, XS-XL. I’m wearing Misses S. For casual occasions, this would be lovely with white tennis and a cotton sweater or denim jacket. Side pockets are a winner in my book, plus you can attach the drawstring to add styling.

I did not want this dress skin tight so I sized it as a miss M and I love the fit. It is a rayon/spandex blend that stretches a lot. You can adjust the belt tie as you wish. Petite is about 2 inches shorter but also makes the belt too high for my waist due to my long torso.

This is also a T by Talbots dress made of 96% cotton and 4% spandex. This is also not yet available in large sizes. The pockets are low at the hips so I could wear petite as this dress doesn’t have a defined waist.

We move on to a few skirts…

this denim skirt It’s super cute with an embroidery tape at the hem. It is a blend of cotton, lyocell, polyester and spandex. 20 1/2″, petite hits above the knee with 19 1/2″ plus 22 1/2″ miss length. I’m wearing a petite, 4th T-shirt, one of my favorites at Talbots… 100% Pima cotton v-neck. It comes in 12 colors. I buy a fresh white or two every spring because it’s opaque and goes with everything in my wardrobe.

I prefer the ratio of a shorter tee to this skirt, so I simply twisted the hem, threaded it through the front belt loop, and tucked it under. This gives some styling without having to tuck anything into the tee.

this skirt The first thing caught my eye because it is so feminine and beautiful. Comes in all sizes, YAY! It is 100% cotton and 100% cotton lined, so it does not stretch. Length 20 1/2″ minus 19 1/2″ plus 22 1/2″ plus petite 20 1/2″. I’m wearing a misses 4 so it sticks to size (TTS).

open knit sweater A great piece for summer with a cotton/polyester blend. I wear a misses S, which is tighter than I would like, so I recommend getting a size up for convenience. I don’t wear a tank underneath but the website recommends you do and I agree.

Now for some shorts-

This Pima cotton tank It comes in 12 colors and its modest collar makes it the perfect layering piece. I’m wearing a misses S which makes me feel too tall so I folded the bottom under 4″ and prefer minions. chino shorts It is a fun seersucker that says “summer”. Inner seam is concise and plus 7″, petite 6″. I’m wearing a Miss 6.

This is the stars and stripes tee indigo is red and white. It’s a fun and festive motif that looks perfect for summer and especially the upcoming 4th of July. I’m wearing Misses S. A super soft cotton/modal blend and lightweight at the same time.

These girlfriend 9″ denim shorts Here are the ones that come in multiple denim washes. They have a rolled inseam of 9″ miss, 7 1/2″ petite, and 9″ plus. The unopened inseam is 11 1/2″ missing, 10″ petite, and 11 1/2″ plus. Obviously, you can roll these up or down to the length that flatters your legs the most. I’m wearing a misss 4.

These 10 1/2″ perfect shortsbut the petite version I’m wearing is actually 9 1/2″. Talbots makes the same shorts in tons of colors and lengths to flatter any woman’s legs. They’re 98% cotton and 2% spandex so they stretch when you move. They hit the waist and knees depending on the option you choose. I prefer the miss length that gives inches.

This lace up sweater The 4 colors have a fun nautical feel. I’m wearing a petite S and I think the fit is small. It is a cotton/polyester blend. Several reviews call lace-up ties sticky, which I totally disagree with! Very nice quality that I expect from Talbots.
