How long have you been blogging?

9 years – 3 as a wedding planner with a blog and 6 as a wedding blogger

What or who inspired you to become a wedding blogger? What led you to this?

Aspect plus size bride, I got into wedding planning to help new brides, and I realized that plus size brides are the ones who really need help. I couldn’t find anything to help me plan my private wedding. Knowing this gap, I set out to create a space that would inspire plus-size brides.

Do you run Pretty Pear Bride full time, for fun, as a hobby? Share your journey!

Yes, I can say that I finally succeeded. I started doing it part time by teaching biology and planning weddings in high school, but then I decided to make a breakthrough and haven’t looked back since.

What is your favorite asset? Your legs, arms, waist? How do you play this?

My legs, arms, chest and back. I tend to wear tons of skirts and dresses. I am truly blessed to be with a husband who loves me and reminds me of that every day!

We are in the middle of Plus Bride Week. What do you think are the pros and cons of being a plus size bride today?

The biggest challenge for plus size brides is getting inspiration for them, so that’s where I stepped in and really helped create a space where plus size brides could see themselves in the bridal industry.

I feel like another challenge is finding bridal outfits that really fit a plus size bride. Bridal designers often think that all plus sizes are created equal and they are not. And with that, a plus, we as plus-size women have something that other body types don’t have, and that’s a shape that can fill a wedding dress completely differently.

With our folds and sizes, plus size brides can fully fill wedding dresses.

What challenges (if any) do you face with being plus size?

As a plus size woman, I am constantly frustrated because I can’t find clothes that fit my style. I have a very classy, chic and preppy style and most of the brands I love do not have plus sizes. It is very sad to know that there are brands that I love but cannot patronize. This definitely needs to change!

What is your favorite part of owning a plus size wedding dress website?

That I really had the chance to make a difference. The things I do every day really affect people. I created something that people look to every day for inspiration… it’s a great feeling!

What do you think about the plus size fashion and where the plus size wedding dress fashion is today compared to a few years ago?

Plus size wedding dress fashion? Both have certainly come a long way, but they still have a long way to go. I feel like bridal and regular fashion designers alike think that plus size women are all built the same way.

As we all know, this is not the case at all.

Plus size women really need to work to create fashions that fit their various shapes and styles.

What do you think or hear from readers about one of the biggest myths about plus size fashion and/or being a plus size bride?

One of the biggest myths of plus size brides is that we only need A-cut dresses and nothing else. I love how designers add more fit, shimmering and curved dresses.

Plus size bodies look so good showing off all those gorgeous curves we have.
