There are many things out of our control… too much! But one thing that is within our control and that can have a major impact on our daily lives is our home environment. There may be something we cannot change the size of our house, but we can drastically change its appearance and layout.

We turned to Jane Stoller to learn how to do this easily and quickly. organized janekeynote speaker and author Compilation for Beginners.

Think seasonally.

“If you live in a cold place, you can store your warm-weather items in the garage, under the bed, or in a closet. When it’s time to take out these items, be sure to take the time to clean, inspect, donate and sell anything you may not need from last season. We all love to take off our skates, bikes, walking shoes and paddle boards in the summer, but be realistic about what you really think you’ll be using this year. The same goes for clothes.

It’s time to organize your winter items while taking out your spring/summer items. Often times, I’m so excited to use my new products for the current season that I forget to do it. I’m assuming a few of you have this habit as well. But this is the most important step.”

To sell.

“If you’re not going to use these products, the best time to sell them is to make money; Typically, people start looking for certain sports products at the beginning of the current season and often pay more for an item than at the end of the season. After evaluating what you’re actually going to use, store it efficiently.”

Clean, protect and value your patio furniture and outdoor space.

“It may have taken a bit of a hit during the fall and winter, and most people tend to forget about it. A quick refresh of your outdoor space is a surefire way to prepare for the summer months. If there’s any damage, consider investing in some new outdoor, weatherproof furniture and drapes, or a fun outdoor fireplace to make the space more appealing.

Manage your time wisely.

“The summer months can be stressful and often overplanning each weekend. This results in very little downtime that you think you’ll have, and it goes downhill again before you know it. Track your time and be mindful. Take time to relax and think at home, too.”

Sort your sheets and towels.

“Replace your heavy sheets and duvets with something lighter. Since I like to use colorful and light Hamman towels, I sometimes deviate from my normal towel system during the summer months; These towels are also great as beach, summer picnic and travel companions. Quality Hamman towels last a long time and dry quickly; This is a definite advantage in small apartments with very little space to hang wet towels.”

Your tablecloth and place settings could use a fun refresher for summer.

“It’s time to evaluate your table decor and consider making some bold changes. Small swaps can brighten up any home. When it comes to napkins, I especially love to go for a mix of solid materials and some prints!
