2. Make a List
Know in advance what you want to buy. if you need casual wear or something to wear to a holiday party for example, read posts, click links to browse featured products on the retailer’s website, and narrow down deals so you’re ready when deals are posted and available.
Wherever possible, use promo codes to get an even better deal on what’s posted. Most stores list them on the front page of their site. Some retailers have eliminated them entirely – no special code needed this year. I think this is wise.
4. Pre-Register
Cyber Week deals are going fast. Save valuable time by signing as soon as possible and giving them all your shipping information, so when you’re ready to buy, all you have to do is log in and go.
Speaking of preloading things, some sites allow you to preload your shopping cart before the sale starts. Take advantage of this wherever possible – you’ll save a lot of time on Cyber Monday.
6. Save Your Receipts, Order Confirmations, and Shipping Boxes
This will make tracking delivery and exchanges and returns much easier.
7. Double Check Shipping Costs
Some, but not all, stores offer free or discounted shipping costs during Cyber Week. Keep your eyes open for this. And be careful with sending ‘deals’, an upselling technique some retailers use that promises you free shipping if you buy a certain dollar value of product. It’s great if you need everything you buy, but if you come across more stuff than you need or want, it’s not a deal breaker.
8. Double Check Delivery Deadlines
Shop early to avoid delays in gift shipping. Most retailers recommend these dates as order deadlines:
UPS: The following suggested deadlines for sending gifts Domestic for 24 December delivery:
- Ground: Check UPS website for a quote.
- 3-Day Selection: December 21
- Day 2 Weather: December 22
- Weather for the next day: December 23
Note: UPS says service guarantee most packages have been suspended, but some “operational adjustments” have been made, including extending delivery commitment times for UPS Next Day Air from 10:30 am to noon, starting October 18 until further notice.

Limited time deals of the day are popular Amazon. Be sure to check out Amazon during Black Friday and during Cyber Week to take advantage of special daily deals and offers.

10. If Something Is Selling, Check These Alternatives
If I absolutely love something sold in a store, I look at a few retailers instead of giving up. Many carry the same brands and you may have luck elsewhere. For example, I find Nordstrom and Amazon some overlap and sometimes Zappos more.
