Sam Edelman puffer jacket Cole Haan hiking boots

as seen a last postI reach for black on black a lot as a winter pairing that takes almost no thought! It’s a timeless combination that can go in the polished or casual direction, depending on what layers of winter shoes and jackets I choose to add. For this post, I went with a casual casual look that keeps me warm even in the cold Boston weather and wanted to review this puffer coat and waterproof boot below!

First, a few boots I own or have tried that are pretty obvious right now:

Discounted Shoes Available
  • Sam Edelman Garrett – my favorite combat boots are super on sale but only a few numbers left. see them in me Here, Here and Here. After lacing up the boots almost every day for the past week, I really appreciate boots like this one with an additional side zipper or stretch slit for easy on and off!
  • Popular laguna chelsea boots It’s a cleaner option without laces, and it’s also on sale in a variety of colors.
  • Miller Chelsea Booties – 30% discount on the current version of my Caslon chelsea boots seen below.
  • Sam Edelman Harriett pump – Up to 30% discount in selected colors, see me here.
1. Quick Reviews: Winter Boots

These Cole Haan waterproof boots They became the shoes I bought from school on days that were too cold for sneakers, but not cold enough for heavier winter snow boots. They are a great commute boat as they are very light. I found them comfortable and fitted me with lightweight socks 5.5, but I wouldn’t have gotten my size, and I agree with the reviewers that they’re a little tight. A few other options:

  • Ugg Adirondack – these are known as heavy-duty, warm boots that are perfect for cold and snowy weather. They never go on sale every year, but they are of solid quality. I recommend it if you live in a place where it is very cold and snowing.
  • sorel lennox – this is a newer style for me that I tried recently. They are not as thick as Uggs for very cold weather but I thought they were very nice and quite thin for cold weather boots. Usually boots like the Ugg and Cole Haan above are a little “full” shaped due to the faux fur trim, but when I tried Sorels, they felt a little more stylish, at least for cold weather boots.

2. Caslon Pocket Tunic Sweater

I wear a lot of leggings, so I was looking for tunic sweaters that reached crotch length but were not overwhelmingly baggy and long. This one is so cute with the little pockets on the front! It’s also easy to pair to work with slim pants and a pair of loafers.

For your information, this knit mix has wool in it, so if you’re sensitive to wool this is probably not for you. I usually wear a T-shirt or Uniqlo thermal underneath to reduce any potential itching. In terms of size, compared to the XXS, I like the length of the XS a bit more for more coverage, but the sleeves are a bit long and need to be cuffed. It’s hard to see a difference in the photos but below I’m wearing camel in the XS and black in the XXS. The XXS hits my crotch right, the XS covers it a little more.

3. Sam Edelman Inflatable Jacket

before you buy my mackage jacket This is what I borrowed from my mom’s locker for the daily school pick in the winter. He left it here as his “Boston coat”, and after two years of use, I can say that it held up very well and showed almost no signs of wear, and I stay dry in moderate rain or snow. And after trying and buying much more expensive alternatives this year, I believe this is a pretty solid and warm parka for the price.

Placement: Since the fit is TTS and the smallest size offered is XS, it seems big and loose for me. As a quick and invisible “fix” (or Nordstrom can easily make changes), I used 2 safety pins to shorten the belt from the center back, which makes a noticeable difference in the shape of the jacket I’m wearing! The belt is still very comfortable as it is elastic and flexible. The hoodie is generously sized and cushioned with a cincher to keep out the elements like the Canada Goose coats I. recently tried.

With all that said, unless you’re looking for something really plus size you can wear underneath, I’d recommend this to anyone who’s real size and wears a real XS and up. My mom is 1.75 meters tall and 105 kilos and fits her well over a thick sweater. It went on sale a few winters ago so I would have hoped for a sale for it!

Sam Edelman Women's Belted Longline Down Jacket review

Below is another option I tried in the store. This is my first time trying Bernardo after watching online for a while and I am definitely interested in trying more of his styles! An XS was a comfortable fit for me. I can say that it is not as loose as Sam Edelman’s belt, but not as appropriate as Mackage.

Thanks to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
