The corset continues to be the hottest trend this year and I always thought it was a little too sexy for me until I tried this velvet lace bodice. When paired with longer, more conservative silhouettes, it feels more elegant than clubbing and is surprisingly versatile for sleeker looks. I absolutely love it paired with wider-leg trousers or midi-length slip skirts for a more classy dinner or night out. You can also see it with the faux leather trousers that I introduced a few times below.

It’s SO cute and it’s super discounted today. The neckline and bony construction of this bodice truly echoes the hourglass silhouette and pinches the waist without being too restrictive. Velvet is stretchy and is zipperless pull style. It’s thick enough that I can wear it without a bra, which is very comfortable for a stylish top, but you can also try Nubra for any strapless or push-up effect.
Fit it wisely, this feels TTS. An XS works for me (and I’ve seen a few reviews from very petite customers who have bought the XS), but I really wish they did it in the XXS. I don’t mind if a piece like this fits tighter so it doesn’t move during the night. FYI, they restock some sizes every morning – I was tracking the color Emerald and when my size came back I ordered that too.
Velvet Lace Mini Dress
As seen from the reviewer photos, this one is pretty universally flattering thanks to the draped lace detail! I bought the XS regularly (sometimes restocked) before I realized it was petite, and I’m sure the petite will fit better. The XS is a little loose on me and this dress has plenty of stretch and will be a snug fit at best. Since the sleeves were too long for me, I folded them from the bottom.
If you manage to find this in your right size, I would highly recommend it for a more stylish piece with a modest top and full arm coverage (harder to find!). When buying the emerald, the chocolate brown color (same color as my corset top – looks great in reviewers’ photos as a black alternative and was a really underestimated color).
