As I learned from my experiments last year, trousers can even be found in a more casual wardrobe. Trousers, which are always indispensable for work clothes, are a newer, trendy and very comfortable casual combination for me, paired with sneakers. I’m partnering with Express to share a classic petite-friendly pair currently on sale and two ways to style them!
one. Innovative Buttoned Knitwear Jacket
This Chanel inspired sweater jacket is SO cute, it might be one of my favorite Express finds! The XS is a bit loose-fitting and the sleeves are a little long for me (see photos below), but it’s a short style so it works better for petite than usual.
I have a similar tweed jacket that I bought over 6 years ago and still always have access to (it even earned a spot on my list). capsule wardrobe), so I can say that this style is definitely timeless, at least for me. Compared to my tweed jacket, I like that this is a soft sweater knit that offers versatility. I wear it with blue, gray and cream jeans and sneakers or flat shoes for a smart casual look.
2. Draped Top
This draped top has received good reviews and looks really stylish with jeans or trousers. I love the unique pleated drape design combined with a lightly padded shoulder for structure. Note that this top has a shortened length and is not long enough to get anything in and I either fold the sleeves up to about an inch or push them up on my arms.
3. High Waist Skinny Pants – 50 discounts
Classic pants with many great reviews. I dug through the old product pages to find these pants with a nice flowy fabric and the perfect petite-friendly length! I’ve noticed that many newer trouser styles, even with the Petite / Short inseams, are actually quite long and still require rags for me. These fit very well and the length works for me to wear with sneakers or low heels. 00 shorts measure 12.5 inches across the waist, 11 inches high and 27.5 inches inseam.
We’ve been chatting a lot of Converse sneakers on IG, and this is a casual and easy way to wear them with anything but jeans.
I would also like to point out that my velvet corset top (in my opinion) has been restocked in several colors and is now under $30! It was an unexpectedly versatile find that adds a luxurious, elegant touch to an evening wear or winter wedding.
