The brand was created to celebrate independent plus size brands exactly like GIA/irl. Started by brothers Sylvie and Danielle, this community strives to have a community at the forefront of their brand. Sylvie’s husband, James, was also instrumental in the website design, highlighting their family’s first approach.

One of the challenges Insyze faces is finding great brands that design stylish clothing for plus sizes. Luckily, they partnered with 50 brands and met some great designers along the way.

They shared their heartwarming stories of how and why they needed Insyze. Here is their story, in Sylvie’s words:

The Beginning of Insyze

“I want to go back to the beginning… Why we started and how we got here.

Danielle and I are sisters. We are originally from the UK and had a very normal childhood until one day in 1998 everything changed. After a year of unease, and the doctors didn’t know why, Danielle was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

At first the doctors could not understand what was wrong and advised my mom not to let her eat chocolate – brand on the advice of doctors, hey.

Fortunately, Danielle is still with us. He had a life-saving surgery and treatment that kept the cancer at bay – but with some lifelong side effects – one of which is weight gain.

Danielle has always been plus size and has struggled with confidence in her body.

When we were in our teens and we went shopping together, Danielle had nothing on her body, so she’d ask me to try on things she loves – just to feel like it’s part of her fashion experience.

For me, it was unacceptable for my sister to feel bad or excluded. I thought we should do something about it.

That’s why we originally launched Insyze as a blog and community page. An inspiration site where you can discover which brands have plus sizes and see other people look unreal in all shapes and sizes.

Fast forward and now, we’re a plus size fashion market and we’re really proud of what we’ve built so far. We are a bootstrapped company and the only outside funding we have comes from family and friends.

Brunch was filled with fashion talk, celebratory toasts, laughter and yummy snacks.

As Sylvie and Danielle talk about how difficult it is to get funding for female founders and use the following statement, “a boot company”, We all agreed that we should invent our own term for female founders.

“We pulled ourselves up by the bra straps!”

You can buy plus size fashion from our store now. insyze.com

And as plus-size women, we know that bra straps have to work a lot harder than boot straps!
