It was two weeks before Christmas and no gifts had been bought all over the house, especially by my wife. Stockings hung neatly on the chimney, hopefully Saint Nick’s my gift guide would be there. The kids snuggled into their beds as wireless charging trays, pizza ovens, and other impractical things danced in my head. And in the Barefoot Dreams cardigan and my mom and I night cap, we had just decided to make a gift list… slap? Isn’t it silly, do you want to wrap it up?
Ah, it’s hard to rhyme. Anyway, here’s my list of gifts, if you’re like Jean and haven’t done much shopping for the men in your life, you should still be able to get them in time for Christmas.

Don’t Jog—Run To Get Them
2nd. ABC runners (short and long blank.)
Last year, these sold out in Short size before Santa could get me a pair. I hope it doesn’t happen again this year *cough* @jean *cough* gray sage *cough* or carbon dust *cough*. They come in a variety of colors and 3 different lengths, the same stretchy yet structured material as my most worn pants. ABC pants.

A oversized Good Gift for Beer Lovers
3. Beer Advocate’s Extreme Beer Box
My days of attending Extreme Beer Fest are probably over – to Jean’s delight. But those who make that festival offer this box of 12 interesting, unique beers from 12 different breweries from all over the country. Most are one-off items made specifically for this box and not for the heartless. Great flavors and high alcohol content. A banana feeds imperial fatness. Sour inspired by caipirinha.
Note: This box ships in January. Still, that didn’t stop me from ordering it for myself. Just write “12 great beers coming soon” on a post-it, put it under the tree and we can all keep the holidays going until 2022.

Backpack Is Back, Alright!
4. STATE Backpack
A great backpack brand that makes looks gift guides from past Christmas. It’s re-emerging this year as functionality + comfort + style remains key as we all find new ways to navigate the office/home/living world. Notably, my 15″ laptop only fits in a backpack that says it’s 13″ in size (it may not provide enough padding, but be careful and don’t toss your laptop bag around, okay?).

5. AirPods
If you’re an iPhone user and the headset needs a refresh, you can’t go wrong here. i tried both AirPods Pro and AirPods 2nd generation. I love the noise canceling, multiple ear tips, and other features of the Pro. Clever though, the OG 2nd gen ones feel like classic wired ear buds and are the most comfortable for me. However, YEHMMV (Your Ear Hole Mileage May Vary).

6. Ooni Pizza Oven
This is at the top of my ever-growing “Daddy Things” list. Need When We Finally Have A Backyard. Actually making a brick oven by hand with imported Italian bricks ranks top, but the probability of this happening is thinner than a Neapolitan pizza crust. Right after my hypothetical patio pizza setup was complete, a Traeger pellet smoker.

These are great if you still feel like you’re in WFH outfits but actually need to go to an office and look stylish.
This Cashmere Waffle Sweatshirt It’s a nice lightweight piece but feels small, so if your guy like me has been lifting more chocolate from bars lately, your size is big. This Ultra Stretch 24/7 Smart Pants It looks more like a business casual trousers, but has plenty of stretch. Comes with a short 28 – 34 inch inseam and is a full-size fit. Quince comes from overseas so if you need something that arrives sooner, this is soft Everlane hoodie still in my normal rotation.

8. Wolf Clock Winder
I’m not a clock person. But this watch winder comes highly recommended from a friend who is a watchmaker. He recommends it to all other watchmakers he knows. And if you know a watchman, you know that he is very meticulous about watches. And this watch winder looks so beautiful, I wonder if I should be a watchman to put it on my shelf. look watch all day.

A Whiskey Most Whiskey Drinkers Will Enjoy
9. George Baller Single Malt
Whiskey drinkers can have very particular tastes, making it difficult to choose a bottle for a gift. But this single malt has something to appeal to just about any whiskey drinker. The distiller describes it as “A California takes on the Japanese spin on Scotch whiskey.” And unlike the increasingly popular Japanese whiskeys, it’s quite readily available at a fairly modest price point.
