New February Arrivals at Talbots Trial Session

Good Friday ladies. Spring collections flock to the stores and I’ve always wondered what colors brands are focusing on. Talbots go bright and splurge on some classic neutrals. It’s always fun to try on your clothes.

If you’re new here, welcome. Dressing room diaries, when I walk into a store and try new products, I can see what it looks like on a woman over 25. For reference, I’m 5’4″ and weigh around 138 lbs. I have an inverted triangle body with broad shoulders and straight hips. I have a tall torso, long arms and very little curves. I usually wear one size larger than the top bottom. So you can see what’s new in the store and get style ideas I try on clothes that don’t fit me and don’t fit my best shape and color.

This first photo is for all of you to experience the same smile I did in the dressing room. Wrong shape, wrong size and no way to fix this combination on me. I have thin hips and these pants are not meant to look like balloons but they are too big and too long. My broad shoulders are not proud of this ‘puffy’ shoulder but man oh man, I love the cheery color.

This classic no-iron striped shirt features a reverse stripe on the front inside fly and inside the cuffs. This adds a playful flair to a classic shirt as I always fold my sleeves back and pop my color. I paired it with this unfilled, quilted vest that comes in 4 colors. I wear navy, which is a great neutral for spring.

White jeans are less forgiving than dark colors and being comfortable is not what I want these days, so I was very excited to come across these. barely white trimmed boots. I have two washed blues on these jeans and I love that they cover my shoes but don’t shine through!

This comfortable chino they are brighter and brighter, so I paired them with a sweater of the same color. I wear 6 petite that fits below the natural waist and requires a sweater on my tall torso. Chinos have folded hems that look more comfortable, so I show them folded as well. These come in 11 colors across the entire Talbots sizing range.

Sweater It comes in 5 colors, I wear aquamarine. The puffy shoulder isn’t great on me, but it’s great for broadening the look of narrow shoulders. This shawl collar cardigan it is a deep indigo color and also in cream or aquamarine color which will be a stunning addition to this combination.

Talbots cotton t-shirts it’s a nice substantial weight and mine lasted for hours. You can’t tell here, but they’re also opaque, which I love! I’m wearing a little indigo. This shaker knit cardigan it is described as having the sheath of an elephant, and if it has it is so thin you can’t tell. It comes in 6 gorgeous bright and neutral colors in all its sizes. I wear a little miss because it runs TTS. I wear calm blue, which is bright and cheerful.

Here, I just popped them classic denim jacket over your aquamarine chino and sweater. I love the freshness of this look. I wear misss medium which is my preferred size in a denim jacket. There’s spandex, but I like mine to be extra wide for ease of movement, so I size it up.

Same cozy chinos as above, this time punch pink. Wowza that’s color fun! I like to pair black with pink, so classic crew neck topped with a tee and a pullover jacket. blazer The background ivory looks too muted and unbalanced against black and bright pink. I would love this with jeans and a softer shirt, tee or sweater. The strip was so dark that I couldn’t tell if it was dark blue or black. Does it matter in such cases? No, not me.

they are the same twill runners I tried white in the first picture but it’s a tiny petite and wow what a difference. I don’t usually prefer short pants but this style is designed that way and you really can’t change it. They fit freely between the seat and thighs, so I suggest you go down a size.

The abstract floral sweater looks like shades of aquamarine, aqua, navy blue, white and black. It will go with a lot of things in this latest collection and it has a very optimistic vibe. Miss small and stick to size.

Then I went to my other local Talbots and tried these-

They classic white non-iron shirt It’s what I’ve been wearing for years. I’m wearing 8 petite and the sleeves are too short for my long arms so I always prefer misses on these but the sizes are real. Trousers are always popular with Talbot. Chatham ankle pants I am wearing Cyan Blue which comes in 6 colors. It has a slightly higher waist and side zippers that prevent lumps and bumps in the tummy area, which I personally like this season. This crimped cut version here.

I completed this look with a 100% cotton tunic in the same Cyan blue. Other new pants etc. It comes in 6 colors to match with. I wear a petite medium size so it goes long and will work nicely over tights.

These chinos come right to your waist and sit like a dream. I really like these for those of us who are tall or want maximum bun control. The fabric is oxford, it is a type of menswear. This is the only color and fabric ever made (finger crossed gives more options). I wear a petite 6 and it fits perfectly so it stays true to size.

Couldn’t resist pairing with this sunny yellow striped shirt. This shirt has color-matched polka dots on the cuffs and placket! It is 100% cotton but not labeled as non-iron. It also comes with navy option. I wear a petite medium and it totally sticks to its size. this striped sweater One of the funniest things I’ve experienced in months. Needless to say, it will go with everything, plus it’s soft, comfortable, and flattering. I’m wearing a medium petite and the sleeves are very long.

this sweater wanted more color so I put it on this quilted vest At Punch Pink. then i added these high waist straight jeans Size 6 petite. This curvy version is here. These are also on the shortlist for me this spring because I don’t feel the love for skinny or skinny white jeans.
