Let’s admit it. Getting old and aging gracefully is not for the fainthearted. From thinning hair to dealing with mature skin, I’m often asked what products I use to combat the effects of aging on my hair, skin, and nails. This year, I thought I’d share my favorite beauty finds for women over 50. Many of these are tried-and-true brands and products that I’ve used over the years and seen many times shared.

Skin care products

one. Advanced Clinics Manuka Honey

By the age of 60, our skin is not producing the same amount of collagen and natural oils as our younger skin. To counter this, I’ve found it invaluable to apply a good quality moisturizer all over my body when I just get out of the shower. Formulas with squalene, hyaluronic acid, salicylic acid, and lactic acid are some of the best for moisturizing aging skin. I also reapply my legs and arms every night. It may seem like overkill, but the extra effort makes a world of difference. I shared this post That I moisturize every day and night with this affordable lotion that doesn’t break the bank.

2. Advanced Clinicals Retinol Advanced Firming Cream

I’ve always applied myself a good moisturizer twice a day, but it’s not enough anymore. Retinol products are supposed to help improve creamy skin appearance, which is why I’m back using this. It is cruelty-free and contains many good ingredients for redness, such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, green tea, and chamomile. I appreciate the price as I will use it everywhere.

3. Purito Fermented Complex 94 Enhancer Essence

Purito is a Korean skincare brand that produces eco-friendly formulas that are 100% cruelty-free, vegan, hypoallergenic, and incredibly affordable. I apply it morning and evening after washing my face. It changed my skin amazingly! I am so happy with how this feels on my skin that I even bought a small travel bottle to pour some for travel.

4. Tan-Luxe Butter

Let me start by saying that this is a sweet moisturizer, even without the self-tanning properties. Contains Vitamin E, sweet almond oil, shea butter, cocoa butter and tons of other moisturizing oils. It smells good and feels super moisturizing that goes on. You’ll be pleased to see it flip pastiness fast! You can apply it all over but I’m only interested in adding color to my legs. I’ve found that replacing Tan-Luxe with my regular moisturizer every morning is the perfect amount of color for me.

5. MDSolarSciences Sun Bar SPF40 Travel Stick

i had melanoma on my leg about 20 years ago, which made me overly vigilant about applying sunscreen. I now own 2 of these solar sticks. One lives in my bag, one lives in my car. Windshields are usually covered with a filter to block some rays, but seeing the sun go down while holding the steering wheel feels like I’m hurting my skin, so I often reach for this bar. It does not go sticky or white so I use it a lot.

6. Braun Facial Cleanser and Depilatory

I have an older Braun version of this epilator and I love it! I was so tired of missing large locks of hair while shaving in the shower (without my glasses) that I gave it a try and became addicted. I only need to use it every few weeks and the regrowth is so gentle that I never notice it coming back until I really look closely. Just between you and me, I just started using it for the peach fuzz on my face… let’s see how it turns out.

7. Cica Barrier in Purito Dermis

I put this sleeping bag over my serums and Retin A at night. It feels like I’m washing my skin with the moisture it needs! It’s packed with lots of beneficial ingredients and makes my skin incredibly hydrated.

8. Tinkle Dermaplaning Tool/Eyebrow Shaver

Home dermaplaning has never been easier with these handy razors. It removes peach hair on your face and exfoliates your skin. When I don’t have time to use my epilatorI will use these for a quick clean and no… my beards are not growing short or thick again.

9. Kevin Murphy Volumizing Against Gravity

I have used Kevin Murphy products for years. They work great and produce great results, especially for those of us who struggle with thinning of our hair as we age. Many of you have bought this this year as well and had great results.

10. Pro Waves Hair Rollers

I swear these velcro rollers. My extremely fine, thinning hair needs all the help it can get and the few minutes I spend on these rollers while showering lift my hair up nicely. I just started using these hot rollers on my freshly washed, dry hair and I love the volume I get.

11. Color Wow Extra Mist-ical Shine Spray

The whiter my hair gets, the more matte it looks and this spray adds tons of shine without any oil or anything to weigh my hair down. I love it!

12. Nioxin Volume and Texture Spray for Thinning Hair

This adds texture and strengthens the torso from roots to tips for fuller looking hair.

13. Double-Sided Fashion Tape

This can save the day in case of an overexposed wardrobe malfunction. I’ve also been known to tape off a falling hem or temporarily shorten pants with these things. The tiny boxes are so small that every fashionista should have one in their bag.

14. Every Drop of Beauty Spatulas

This wonderful beauty spatula is specially designed to help you pick up leftover product from your favorite makeup and skincare bottles and make sure you don’t waste a single drop. The material is expensive these days and often the packaging is not user friendly enough to make us use it all.

15. Nail and Cuticle Oil

This is a must-have to keep your cuticles and hands super soft during the cold winter months. In fact, my cuticles may benefit this year.

16. Collagen For Her

Collagen for Her is a small, women-owned company that produces products with recognizable ingredients that keep women’s unique needs in mind. Because normal collagen production declines as we age, it makes sense to supplement our diet with high-quality collagen to provide extra support as we age.

17. Marine Collagen for Beauty Gums Collagen

collagen for it new Marine Collagen Beauty Chewing Gums, wonderful! Now it’s even easier to make sure I get my collagen. This unique blend contains hydrolyzed fish collagen, 100% daily Vitamin C, biotin and hyaluronic acid, so it’s perfect for pescatarians like me.

18. RevitaBrow Advanced Brow Cream

This eyebrow cream really delivers! My sparse eyebrows have grown so long that I no longer need to use pencils! Many of you have tried and reported similar results. If there’s a girl with thin eyebrows on your list, as most of us are, give them this Revitabrow. It’s a real game changer, plus it’s ophthalmologist-formulated, dermatologist-reviewed, hypoallergenic, non-irritating, oil-free, vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, and it works!!
