Monday Thoughts – Shoe Ratio and Bad Decisions

[ad_1]

I took this oversized, tall, rather misshapen Artist Smock out to dinner Friday night. I LOVE this shirt, but it’s not easy to have a flattering style. While I was dressing, I realized that I didn’t have the right shoes. We’ve talked a lot about shoes over the last few weeks, so why stop now?

This outfit needed a visually heavier shoe to balance the shirt, and I wanted it to be a casual sneaker. My lifestyle is now so comfortable that sneakers are accepted everywhere. I’m used to looking at women’s feet wherever I am to check what they’re wearing. Most often, it is some type of athletic shoe. Looking back I could wear my retro sneakersbut they changed places while I was organizing my closet and I forgot that I had it because I didn’t see the box.

I forgot my coat, so my husband lent it to me. his inflatable vest to wear from the car to the restaurant. Even though his vest seems loose and big to me, it visually looks less bulky than a white shirt. It looks better as it’s black and has a lower contrast value with my dark blue pants, but still needs a heavier shoe for balance. I ordered these platforms From Adidas with great reviews.

Dazzling Drying

I decided it might be a good idea to try a salon gel manicure right before the holidays. Ordinary nail polish comes off in 1-2 days, so I thought a professional option might save time. It was a very bad decision. Most people get 2-3 weeks from gel manicures. I only had eight days before it started to wear down and look tacky. I had it rebuilt three times 10 days apart and each time they used the sander drill to “flatten” my nails and it totally ruined them.

DAZZLE DRY MINI KIT

Then I read about Dazzling DryingIt is completely non-toxic, does not require light to cure and comes off with regular polish remover. A local salon offered a Dazzle Dry manicure, but they charged $60 for it. This isn’t my first goat rodeo so on my nails I knew it would never be worth that price. Then I realized This mini kit on Amazon and decided that I could risk this amount to try it myself at home. I watched theirs “how to” video hereit looked pretty simple.

There are a few steps, but they dry very quickly, so the whole process is quick… much faster than going to a salon, and it also feels healthier. My first week, the polish took four days, which is a record! The second pass took 8 days and that’s huge for me! I was so pleased with these results that I decided to opt for full-size options for each. Tons of colors and lots of “mini flightsIt’s a great way to experiment with colors. I packed the mini kit to bring to Miami because it’s so small and portable.

Food

One reader said they were grateful I didn’t write about my grandson or food because they only read my blog for fashion. It’s very nice for him, but I’m starting to feel this blog is starting to get a little one-dimensional. At the risk of alienating that reader, I might begin to share a few favorite recipes going forward. Part of aging well lived and healthy includes food choices, exercise, mindful practice, travel and what we wear.

After eating Brussels Sprouts at Andrew Weil’s restaurant, I ordered the cookbook, which looked great. There are so many great recipes we’re excited to try. The problem is that the recipe above is not included. I found a recipe just like what we ate. They were incredibly good. I never knew the best brussels sprouts were the small ones… right? Proof that this will never be a food blog 😂.

What else would you like me to tell you here?
