Happy Monday ladies. This week’s bullshit is, as always, personal and all over the map. I have a little bit of belly staring on my mind along with a small amount of whining and other miscellaneous things.

I think I didn’t share this outfit I wore at Lake Tahoe to Thanksgiving. If I did, here’s your second look 🙂 Beautiful Islands are synonymous with winter style and I couldn’t wait to wear this dress once again. My fair island sweater dress is from last year, but they have one. almost same dress this year. This dress from Talbots also similar but without the underlying pattern, this will make you look taller. cashmere scarf- similar here It was a nice surprise gift from Talbots a few years ago. My boots are very old but black riding boots haven’t changed much over the years. velvet tights A warm alternative to the opaque tights that I love to wear all winter long.

I’m wearing too three of these pearl necklaces It’s like a bracelet around my wrist. I love the easy on and off magnetic closures that I simply wear end-to-end and then wrap around my wrist. Remember, you can Save 15% off sitewide with code AWSL at the checkoutand there is free US shipping.

I don’t know about you but my teeth are a train wreckAnd the problems get bigger as I get older. I needed braces as a kid but didn’t get it. I’m dealing with a crossbite, plus I’m grinding my teeth, so I have lots of chipped teeth and now broken crowns. I tried braces last year, but I have two implants that don’t mix well with braces, so it didn’t work. I spent five hours in the dentist’s chair last week and there will be many more visits until calm and relative order is restored in my mouth 🙂 I drive two hours in each direction to see my old dentist because I entrust my teeth to him…call me crazy, but here you are. whining… I am lucky to have teeth that I do 🙂

I did something new last week and it takes some getting used to. My hair has gotten so sparse that my stylist and I decided it was time to layer it up and shorten it some more. The result looks dangerously like a bob. I say dangerous because breasts are highly expected in a thin, thin-haired woman and I prefer a more original style.

This is the best haircut for my current hair, but I don’t care about looks, so it’s time to get a little creative with how I style it. He suggested a paste in the roots that I am game to try. Funny aside, my stylist mentioned that my color looked different than he remembered. I told him everything was getting older and grayer. He thinks I’m exaggerating purple shampoo, so it’s probably a mix of the two. In any case, it’s not as silver as I’d like, so I’m a little disappointed. BTW- this photo makes her look more blonde than she is in person.

get an old hobby

We stopped at Truckee for lunch and some window shopping on our way to Lake Tahoe last week. While wandering the main street, a shop window it froze me… So, stop completely and look. There were several balls of yarn, needles, and hand-knitted shawls in the display case. I had to enter

My mom taught me to knit at the age of 14 and I’ve been an obsessive knitter for 45+ years. I never went anywhere without a project, and I usually knit for more than 8 hours a day. I have given myself and my family tons of sweaters, hats, afghans etc. I did. I’m not sure when I quit but I think it happened when AWSL became more than a full time job. Instead of spending my free time knitting, I started spending my time creating content for social media, editing photos or writing blog posts. The arthritis on my hands was starting to get worse, and I wondered if it was because of all the knitting I did.

Whatever the reason, I stopped knitting cold and never looked back… until that window led me in. Buying knitting needles was a pain for me because there are multiples of every imaginable size at home. We would be at the lake for three days and I had start knitting OK thenI bought needles to do this too.

It took a few attempts to get my rusty skills back into action, but once they did, I felt the old obsession take over. Knitting is a form of meditation for me. The repetitive motion and stitch count is both monotonous and soothing. The suit I bought isn’t my favorite pattern, thread weight or color, but that’s not the point. The process is important to me and I am very happy to start this old hobby again.

What hobbies have you given up that you would like to return to so far?

Thanks for reading, and be sure to wear what makes you feel safe.
