Monday Music: What I Wear to a Gala and Other Festive Attire

Happy Monday ladies. This week’s thoughts are somewhat random, but somewhat themed. Over the weekend, we attended the Black Tie Gala fundraiser. G02 for Lung Cancer Foundation. If you’re a subscriber to this blog, you’ve read my wardrobe concern about what to wear yesterday. Anyway… I bought it This Banana Republic Velvet Blazer in deep teal and she wore it Jennifer my pearls (save 15% sitewide with AWSL at checkout) and a simple black tank top, trousers and kitten heels as old as the hills. I thought a lot about what to wear and finally I looked pretty good.

Below are a few pieces from Chico’s latest holiday collection that I tried in store, and they sent me to the style for an Instagram campaign. I chose not to wear this red jacket at the gala because I didn’t want to look like I was wearing a holiday outfit.

This light jacket is the prettiest rose/red shade. I wore it with charcoal gray pants and a top instead of black to keep the look soft. I wore this outfit to an event last week and quickly realized we were overdressing. I’d rather be that than underdressed… but when I took the jacket off, I was wearing all gray, which was just the right amount of casual wear.

i bought a few this fisherman catches because they come in tons of great colors and are a great weight for layering.

This Zenergy Cotton-Cashmere sweater and pants looked so comfortable I couldn’t resist. It feels great with a blend of 52% cotton, 26% rayon, 17% nylon, 3% elastane, and 2% cashmere. The silver metallic thread makes them feel festive. i put it on them this white faux fur vest, a ringtone for this is the brown one I wear it very often

I added a sequined “disco ball” type detail in the middle of these simple silver rings.

Tried a few more holiday-themed pieces at my local Chico. This sequined tee is a great piece to wear all season with anything that will add a festive feel. Sleeves are the perfect length to wear while cooking if you’re feeling too inclined.

This Chianti color is front and center on my radar this season, and Chico has a decent amount. It’s pretty flattering on many skins and a nice change from red. embellished jeans There are beautiful trimmed girls with slender legs. ruana fun but isn’t it a bit of an exaggeration with these jeans? I would turn everything down with it and toss it over a great white shirt and straight pants or jeans. recyclable velvet vest It’s quilted and thin, so it doesn’t create bulk and can be dressed up or down.

This faux suede moto jacket is super soft and beautiful. This photo makes the color appear brighter than it actually is. The fabric is a machine washable polyester blend with 13% spandex. Brigitte rivet ankle pants It’s a petite pull-on style, which is why I rarely buy petite pants.

These Juliet pants It’s a size too big for me, but I wanted to try them out because I love the side stripes and the mini herringbone print. They come in regular, petite and tall. Juliet style similar to Brigitte style With a more substantial feeling ponte mesh fabric. This is a sequined cardigan It is a gray toned black mélange in an animal print motif. It has a slight bell on the sleeves so I wouldn’t recommend these for cooking :).
