Monday Music – Wardrobe Fatigue and Chiffon

Happy Monday ladies. It never fails that wardrobe fatigue sets in very quickly when we travel. Traveling with very small bags, I take it on myself, but the risk of losing the luggage prevents me from doing the opposite.

I wear scarves more often when traveling because they help me change the look of basic clothes, prevent my hair from getting messy on a windy bus ride, and cover my neck when the sun feels too strong. This little blue one wears out more than the others because it invigorates the gray and makes me nauseous. I noticed here banana republic months ago, but waited until it was allowed to buy.

A few of you have mentioned that large cruise ships usually have “elegant” evenings, and apparently we do! I don’t go overboard with these kinds of events, but at the last moment I wore a long pleated chiffon skirt and it worked really well on me. It also brought back many good memories of how different I once dressed.

Many ladies wear loose sequins for these evenings, but this vintage pull-on skirt fits the bill because it’s black, long, and chiffon. I haven’t worn it for at least 8 years and it has survived over 20 years of closet cleaning. Tulle skirts have become fashionable in recent years. I wanted one but could never find one that was quite right because its hardness was over the top for me. Now I realize that this softer chiffon is more my style because it’s simpler.

I have owned many pieces of Babette and unfortunately this skirt is my last piece. After nearly 50 years in business, Babette liquidated all her clothes and closed its doors in 2016. Now that I started wearing this skirt again, I realized that I wanted to find a similar brand. His clothes were modern, sophisticated, unique, easy to wear and artistic. Hmm…I cut my job for me.
