Monday Music – Trees and the Way of Memory

[ad_1]

Happy Monday ladies. Today’s music is personal and touching. I think it’s commemoration season and I do most of it. Over the weekend, I decorated one of our tiny fake trees that brought back so many memories. uses tree southwest ornaments and chili lights my mom sent me years ago. She was a real girl!

I’m pretty sure she’s in her mid-50s in this photo.

After his parents passed away, he inherited some money, retired and sold his house. He bought a trailer, collected 2 Irish Terriers and set out to explore the country. He went west to see me, check out California, and be here for the birth of my first child. He spent a long time in Napa, spending several months with friends in the midwest and wintering in Florida. When his travels took him to New Mexico, it was love at first sight. Bought a mechanic from Albuquerque and settled in happily like a clam.

These ornaments and lights have been buried in a box in the garage since we moved in 4 years ago. Hanging lights and ornaments was a great trip down memory lane. It has been missing for 19 years, but whenever I decorate this tree, it is here with me. Her adventurous spirit has skipped a generation, but my daughter Vanessa has it!

I also decorated a small fake Christmas tree with my grandson. My vision was a Hallmark-type handmade tree with edgy cranberries and sliced citrus fruits. Ha! James is only 8 years old, but with 5 minutes left to string the cranberries, he slows down at a snail’s pace. I asked him if he thought he was a little lame, and he nodded slightly. Well, the best plans… I kept shooting. I added some mercury glass vegetables because it looked pretty pathetic. It still is, so I can tie more cranberries tomorrow 🙂

Our big tree in the living room has the rest of our ornaments. Glassed ones are my favourite, as well as those made by people I love. I started buying them more than 40 years ago and I never tire of their shine. Unfortunately, many have fallen and broken over the years, so I’m always looking for unique replacements. The best deals are after Christmas, so I started putting them in cars to strike on Boxing Day. My mother had a weakness for owls, then i found theseI had to have them. It turned out that there are a lot of glass owl ornaments out there.

Vanessa is flying this week and this will be all the Christmas gifts I need. He was going to drive the car and bring the HoneyPug, but decided that a quick flight would be easier on both his back and HP, so he found a vet tech to sit the dog. Of course, we all worry about HP because we are old and frail.

While Vanessa is here, my posts may be occasional because I will be busy collecting all the time I can spend with my family and making memories for later. Time flies so fast, hug your loved ones and be nice to yourself.

What kind of ornaments are your favourite?
