Monday Music – Knowing Your Limits

[ad_1]

Happy Monday ladies. Monday music is some of my most personal posts. It’s funny, but I never wanted them to be, but they’ve evolved. It’s either what’s going on in my life or what’s on my mind.

A reader was upset when I reported an issue I had with a furnace repairman a few weeks ago. She wanted to read about fashion, not stressful stuff. I totally understand. The thing is, I’m a total person and this is a lifestyle blog. If I share life experiences you can’t relate to, skip it and come back on Tuesday. If you can relate, know that other readers can too, and the comment section is where we can discuss things.

I took off my sea snail cardigan last week and I couldn’t love it more. Is it the perfect shape for me? No, but the color and softness outweighed all other style considerations for me. Do you do this with clothes or do they have to ring every bell for you to love them? It’s technically not Meri Peri, but I don’t plan on catching reeds on my sea snail hunt this spring.

Sebaceous Filaments

They are a normal part of our skin. They are made up of dead skin cells and sebum that cover the hair follicles. Although they are a natural part of our skin, they increase with age, hello 65 and they bother me. The best way to keep them away is with mild chemical exfoliation.

i used this TLC Framboise Night Serum years but admit it, it hurts a little too much. It works really well on sebaceous fibers but contains glycolic acid, which is often associated with redness and irritation. It’s a bit difficult for me 22 because I want my pores to be cleaned, but I have extremely sensitive skin.

I’ve heard great things about it Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant so i got the small size and i love it. It just hurts a little but it’s great around my nose and eyebrows where I get the most sebum.

then i found this Biosance Squalane and Lactic Acid Resurfacing serum and i have discovered that it is perfect for the rest of my face where i just need light exfoliation. Contains Lactic Acid, a very mild exfoliant that doesn’t burn at all, but also contains squalene, which moisturizes.

squalene

i bought this Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose OilI was in a size small last summer and I loved it so much that I’m about to finish my second big bottle. Squalane is a natural emollient that moisturizes the skin, and this version is made from cane sugar. Vitamin C is a fat-soluble form that is more stable than many other types. I put this on top of everything, especially when my skin feels tight.

i just bought this Squalane + Copper Peptide Serum so I can’t talk about the results yet, but there isn’t a Biossance product I’ve tried and disliked. I will keep you informed. I use this vitamin C serum every morning, but I love it because I can add one in the evening. And yes, I layer it over my Retin A with no side effects… maybe because it’s an oil.

limits

As I was sitting at my desk last night, I heard someone calling for help… over and over. Kevin and I went out to explore our neighbor, completely confused and calling for his wife. They had been out for a walk, separated, and she had consumed him with anxiety, babbling unintelligibly that he had been eaten by wild animals. Suddenly, he stumbled into the darkness, shouting for his wife. We jumped in our car to follow and we negotiated a lot to help him get into the back seat. So long story short, it was found and it got even uglier from there. We got them both safely home, but that won’t be the end of their story.

It reminded me of our limits. We all have limits, whether physical or mental. No one likes to admit that they’re over their head with a problem. I hope I can be kind and understand that it’s time to ask for help.

style personalities

I started pulling out the clothes I wanted to bring for my hot weather holidays, and I noticed a trend. I hate wearing black because I know it will be too hot to wear in the sun. Just like in 3, anything white is fine with me, like refreshing colors and possibly prints that I have very little of.

Jennifer Connolly from Anthropologie's A Well Styled Life models the kimono

I bought this a few years ago, it’s not my style wrap and I’ve never had the opportunity to donate it so it will definitely come. This bright floral print will feel right on a tropical vacation.

I continued to donate this beautiful caftan because its shapeless silhouette makes me look much bigger than I am. I’ve never used this because I often wear it around the house when it’s very hot. This would be perfect for a tropical climate. I’m sure I hid this.

Wearing this kimono makes me very happy, but I don’t find myself lying down that often. Definitely going because it’s perfect for Hawaii and Mexico.

THESE POOL SLIDES WILL BE PERFECT

There are many facets to my style personality, and what I choose to wear is largely about where I am and what I do. I’m sure I’ve kept these outliers as they will probably be worn more than any other classic piece for my upcoming warm weather holidays.

Do your style preferences change based on your location?

Thanks for reading ladies and don’t forget to wear what makes you feel safe.
