Happy Monday ladies. We’re on vacation like a pack of turtles. It’s a pity you start packing for a three-week trip at 10:30 pm in a dark bedroom. I didn’t turn on the light because my husband was already asleep… smart guy. Uber used to arrive at dawn, so i had to pack it then. I had a few things on the roller rack, but honestly, I had no plans or what to get in my bags.
Packaging
I know there’s a lot of gray, black, and I think it’s more black. I ordered a new wheelbarrow as I thought it was bigger than this blue dinosaur but it turned out to be smaller. Ah, the best plans. The old Hartmann personal item on top is at least 40 years old and is fading fast, but it’s in perfect shape.

Did I mention how much I dislike flying? Food service on flights has reached a lousy level. For a 5 hour flight at dinner time, I had access to a cookie that I couldn’t eat because it was loaded with gluten. Yeah! We were one row behind the first class and were proxies to their first class meal, complete with white cloth napkins and fawning service. Tasteless Chardonnay and club soda on the trainer ran out quickly.
Gucci and Pearls
I watched The House of Gucci, which I couldn’t wait to see on my phone. It did not disappoint! I didn’t remember Maurizio Gucci being killed. If you haven’t seen it, I recommend it.
There is a personal story behind the pearls on this movie poster. When I saw this photo last year, I was obsessed with the baroque pearl necklace Lady Gaga was wearing. I love all kinds of pearls, but I have an increased appreciation for baroque pearls. Their irregular non-spherical shape makes them feel a little less fussy than the perfect ones, and their somewhat edgy quality feels more modern to me.
I wanted one so I shopped both on foot and online for a strand. The price was very variable and so was the shine. For me the beauty of a real pearl is its shine, so I asked Freshwater Pearl Company if they can make me one and wow, have they ever delivered!
When? my pearls it came, i love it! They are more gorgeous than I expected. It’s such a big statement piece and I love it! Owner Brian liked the way it turned out so he made a few more. Out of curiosity, he took one out at a street fair in Palm Springs and sold it within ten minutes, confirming to me that this was a winner.
I texted Brian on Wednesday and told him I’d be wearing mine on this trip so it would show up in my photos. Since I share links to what I usually wear, he decided to put the remaining two on his website and offer my readers 15% off with code AWSL! Apparently, the discount also works site-wide. Then Brian really made my day. she said she gave me her name Jennifer necklace because it was my idea. Nothing happened to me, that’s very nice.
Here is a must-have bathroom selfie while you wait between flights 🙂 The stains you see are not me in the mirror.
I wear tiny earrings or not at all on this necklace because it is in the center as it should be. BTW- this is not a sponsored post. Only I am sharing the most amazing necklace from a truly thoughtful company.
Rain
It is estimated that the weather will be rainy and rainy for our trip, which I am a little prepared for. I don’t have a lubricant, and I wish I had… but the ship promises to be an umbrella, so it’s all good.
Thirty minutes after we took this photo, we were exposed to the most amazing thunder, lightning and rainstorm. It was amazing! We don’t understand this kind of thing where we live in California, so it seemed like a pleasure to me. i was tired for two days these jersey pantsthis is how I will stretch my wardrobe… and yes, the suitcase is a sea of black and gray 🙂
i saw it all
You can file this under I thought I saw everything. I’m a little picky about table manners. My mother spent a lot of time making sure my siblings and I learned and practiced proper table manners. I’ve always believed that our etiquette speaks loud and clear… often louder than our clothes. While enjoying breakfast yesterday, I saw a family across the room doing the same thing. I noticed them because the young son was so bent over his plate that his nose was almost on the plate.
My mom and dad were sitting pretty upright. Then the young man bent down not once, but several times, and ate the food directly from the plate, holding it by the lips like a horse does. I have to admit that I am upset. I felt very sorry for this young man because his parents had not taught him proper table manners. I know many parents raise their children humbly, but I think they are doing him a disservice.
How far in advance do you pack?
Thanks for reading, and be sure to wear what makes you feel safe.
