Monday Music-Accessories and Miscellaneous Products

Happy Monday ladies. My trip to Hawaii was short, sweet, and free of sun damage, which is good news. The bad news was that I had already missed out on the comfortable vibes.

I’m not going to do a lot of autopsies on the clothes I’m wearing, but this one was very noticeable to me. I don’t believe in breaking down other women’s clothing choices, but as a style blogger I feel too qualified to question myself.

Exaggerated

When I first got this robe, I knew it would be difficult to style as it was shapeless and bulky. But I still bought it because I thought it would be great at the beach, in the pool, or when the temperature is in the 100s. It is lightweight, cool to wear, has a beautiful pattern, and is fluid and comfortable.

So Hawaii got in my suitcase and I wore it on this trip. Last night my daughter took some photos during a beautiful sunset (which we watched on the beach every evening) and I took a closer look when we got back to the apartment.

I couldn’t help wondering… When did Ms. Roper go to Hawaii?

I knew the caftan did nothing for my figure, but to seal its fate, I over-equipped it in every possible way except what it needed…. a belt.

I love my hat, pearl earrings, bracelets, and my flower lei… but when I wear them all at the same time, it turns out… overweight for me. Many women would be comfortable with this much embellishment but I don’t feel it. Luckily I’m in Hawaii so a lot of things fly here. If this was a simple (one color) kaftan, it might work with the accessories I chose, but I still wouldn’t be happy with it. The challenge was to mix a brightly patterned kaftan with multiple accessories in different colors and textures.

On a lighter note, I have a few things on my mind this week:

sunscreens

Here I brought-

Anthelios 50 It has long been a favorite because it is juicy thin, rubs well and is very effective. I went out in the sun every day without a hint of pink on my skin. I use this is Josie Maran As my moisturizer on my face and neck. I cover it up when it gets wet this Colorscience 50 Sunshade Acts as a tinted moisturizer. This Anthelios 50 Coin It’s designed for faces but I layered it all over. CeraVe goes to the bag and to the beach. It’s heavy and I add it on the tops of the feet, the back of the hands, and where I feel red. Yes, these are all designed for the face because I prefer things made for sensitive skin.

island scents

I brought my usual perfume, but it was too heavy to wear in this hot and tropical climate. Somehow I managed to get not one but two scents! The first is this warm and slightly sweet fragrance with roll-on oil. Parvati Frangrance Goddess of Perseverance and Devotion. It has notes of vanilla and amber. My daughter and I keep piling… yummy. Bought it at the resort shop too this is Kai A beautiful mix of Hawaiian flowers (gardenia wrapped in white exotics) that will make me feel like I’m at the beach when I get home. It seems that there is a large line in this fragrance that you can find anywhere, including my favorite store.

Where do you draw the line with accessories and still feel like yourself?

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to wear what makes you feel safe.
