Knee Length Summer Dresses for Women Over 50

The hunt for a casual dress is never easy. A great all-over option for many ladies, and cooler than trousers or shorts in the hottest weather. A reader asked me to share more options, so today I’m going to focus on a few knee-length summer dresses that I tried on for you last week.

This A-line knit tee dress comes in floral or this stripe, miss, petite, female and tall. Back mid length – 38″, petite 36″, ladies 41″ and tall 40″. I wear a petite medium length that goes over my shoulders and loosely widens above the hips. It is a cotton/Tencel.spandex blend that will be very cool in hot weather.

This puff sleeve woven dress is available in 3 colors in sizes XS-XXL (22/24). I wear an XS that fits around the shoulders so it stays true to size. It is a cotton/nylon/spandex blend with a 39 inch inseam. Reviews are positive, except for the complaint that it wasn’t lined, which I found true for many dresses.

This 100% cotton dress comes in 3 colors – ladies, petite, plus and plus petite XS-XL. Length is 38 1/2″ miss, 36 1/2″ petite, 42″ plus and 39 1/4″ plus petite. I’m wearing a small tank top that’s very narrow at the shoulders and fits me well so it’s a little tight, and I’d recommend getting a size up. The adjustable tie gives a nice shape to the dress, which you can make as tight or loose as you want. You can easily dress this up or dress it up with a change of accessories and shoes.

This pleated shift dress features a flattering shape in a rayon/spandex blend. It is size XS-XXL with a length of 39 inches. I wear an XS that is too tight to fit my size. Here short sleeve version I assume it will attract more women. It can also be worn up or down which is a nice option especially when traveling. The waist is just above my waist, which is normal for a dress that’s too small for me.

This 100% linen dress comes in ladies’, petite, women’s and tall sizes in sizes XS-4X. It is unlined. I’m wearing a small minion. Mid back length is 38½”, petite 36½”, female 41″, long 40½”. It’s a thin A-line that feels more like a straight glide to me. This dress can also have a loose belt, if you want to define a little waist, but there was no belt in the store for me to sample.

This A-line dress comes with this embroidery or flower all over. Rayon embroidered 100% cotton. It has a drawstring that allows you to tuck it in at the front waist. a little for some styling. Ladies, petite, women and tall come in sizes XS-4X. Length at center back – 37½”, petite 35½”, women’s 40″, long 39½”. I’m wearing a little misss. It is lined so no slipping is required.
