In winter I love to wear skirts and dresses as well as trousers, I wonder what the best leg wear is with my skirts and dresses. Sometimes black tights and tights just don’t feel right with certain colors or styles. I’m in my 60s and live in the Macedonian Mountain Range, which is slightly cooler than Melbourne.

There are many options other than just wearing black. Fortunately, you can buy opaque tights in many colors. Depending on your color and the rest of your outfit choices will affect the colors you choose.
Other easy neutral colors work well with grays, browns, and navy blue as they create a perfectly blended leg when you’re wearing a nude boot or shoe.
Or you can go bare and for a more modern look, you can add a bare fishnet on top for some texture and detail.

You can see that there are tights in different weights – higher denier 80+ and thinner ones (more Spring and Autumn weight) for when the weather isn’t so cold.
If you have colored boots or shoes – then a colored tights will work really well.
Brown, Navy and Gray are my go-to winter colors as they work easily with my shoes and wardrobe. Gray tights also work with gray shoes or a colorful shoe, as I did with these red boots above!
Here I paired gray with gray suede shoes and a mostly gray outfit. Extension creates gray from head to toe it is the longest line and is great if you want to look taller or make your legs look longer.

Another wonderful type of color similar to brown is taupe (there is a lot of grayish in tights – both hot and cold versions. These gray tights that I combined with my nude and taupe snakeskin boots.
And then navy blue is another great option and can be easily paired with navy blue (I have navy boots too) or black boots like I did here.
So if you’re not eager enough to wear colored tights, here are a few more neutral options. But there are options for you to play and try!
