How to Wear Pink and Red

[ad_1]

As Valentine’s Day approached, I started to wonder if I should make a post about what to wear. Truth be told, I’m not really someone who dresses for a particular holiday. I know I have a lot of readers who like to do it though. They go out wearing pink, red and heart themed clothes or accessories to get in the mood. This year I decided to add my own take on a Valentine’s Day post and share how to wear pink and red.

While these colors are often associated with the holiday, you can wear them together or separately after February 14. I’ll be sharing why pink and red look great together, how to style the two colors, and current pieces from places like Loft, Talbots, Chico’s and J.Crew Factory.

Can you wear pink and red together?

Of course you can! Red and pink sit side by side on the color wheel and this makes them similar. Similar color combinations are often flawless and have low contrast. You can wear similar colors in the same piece or separately, such as a red sweater and pink pants.

Slim and Sophisticated

I think there are two ways to wear pink and red: subtle and sophisticated, or head-to-toe. It really depends on your personality and wardrobe.

For subtle and sophisticated, I turn to clothing pieces that can be worn again in the spring that don’t scream Valentine’s Day. I also think you can keep things subtle by adding fun accessories like a pair of earrings, brooches, and lampshades. scarfor even a pair of socks.

I think the extravagant pieces are really only meant to be worn until and after February 14. They are not heavy wardrobe pieces that you can wear over and over again as they look like Valentine’s Day pieces and will soon look outdated. If you’re a fan of seasonal outfits and have plenty of storage space for these pieces, you’ll love them. If not, opt for some of the more subtle options above.
