How to Wear a Skort Over 50 Safely

My foray into the shorts zone this spring naturally made me go to the zorts. Many of you have recommended shorts as a comfortable option, so I thought about how to wear over 50 shorts. kohl’s and Collective Voice to share a playful koda look in classic neutral tones.

What is a score?

Skorts started as athletic wear, but offer so much more to a woman’s summer wardrobe and are a great option for everyday wear. It’s a hybrid mix of shorts and skirt that offers a comfortable, versatile option for women of all ages. Skorts are a great alternative to shorts for women who don’t like to show off their butt with shorts or just want a higher silhouette. It’s much easier to get around in a skirt and they keep your modesty when bending over and moving around a lot.

I chose a neutral look that can be dressed up or down with a change of shoes and accessories. This Lands End Scot is a pull-on style in moisture-wicking, wrinkle-resistant fabric that provides UPF 50+ sun protection that’s great for outdoor activities. They come in three colors, sizes XS-XL… little option here, plus size here.

How long should your scores be?

Skorts come in different lengths and you should choose the length that satisfies you the most and provides the protection you prefer.

This is a knee-length top 19″ they are long and have 5″ inseam attached shorts. They come above my knee which is a nice modest length for me.

The shorts fitted in this skirt are nice and long so they provide plenty of coverage which means extra protection against thigh injury. Since the skirt is polyester and the shorts are polyester and spandex, they stretch with you as you move.

This is Croft & Barrow Skort It’s 18″ long so my whole knee is visible...plus size option here. There are sixteen colors/patterns available in sizes 4-18. It is also a stretch style and is made from a cotton/poly/rayon/spandex blend with a smooth, vibrant feel. The description doesn’t list the length of the attached shorts, but they also offer thigh scuff protection.

What top to wear with a zort

Skorts pair nicely with knit tops or tees and a button-down shirt or blouse. In fact, since the shorts are not visible, you can easily style a zort with an everyday blazer for a more flattering look.

I chose Lands End Sumpima cotton tank this will layer easily underneath everything. I like that the straps are so wide and cover all the bra straps. Available in ten colours, available in sizes XS-XL Tall. The round neck is shallow enough to keep you humble when you bend down… always a plus in my book.

I hit the top of the tank with this Nina Leonard crochet cardigan This embellishes the look in a teeny tiny way…plus size option here. This cardigan is slightly cropped, so it only fits at the waist and does not force the zort. Available in five colors and selling out fast! This is a great little cardigan to review so many things for some arm coverage this summer. I preferred black to give a longer line with the score.

Shoes that can be worn with the Skort

Skorts look great with all heel height skin and sandals, but I would skip the stilettos :). I avoid wearing ascotch with ballet flats because they can look heavy and potentially boring. Most summer wedges have ankle straps, but I chose this open-toe shoe. Lifestrede padded sandals without wrist strap to help elongate the appearance of my leg. They come in five colors, including taupe, which will lengthen my leg even more.
