How to Skirt Seamless Jeans

no sew jeans skirt tutorial

For today’s post, I wanted to share a little trick I use often to shorten my jeans in less than 10 minutes. i have shared before how i cut my jeans and avoid fraying, but as an alternative I like this method! I know many don’t want a raw hem skirt and like to keep the original skirt look on their jeans, this can be a pretty costly change! Last time I checked out a local in Boston, it was $35 to $40 per pair to replace the jeans with an original skirt (though it’s still worth doing for the jeans you love and wear often).

This method is also a great option if you need a temporary fix and don’t want to shorten your jeans permanently – maybe you have a pair that looks great with heels but want to wear them with sneakers cropped on a different day. .

If you know how to sew, this is how I hem my jeans by sewing. I’m sewing along the same line instead of the safety pins in step 5.

how to sew jeans without seams

Step 1: Try on jeans with your favorite shoes

Wear the shoes you will wear with jeans most often and determine the length you want. I love hitting it above my ankle to wear my straight cut jeans with flats and sneakers!

Step 2: Fold the Edges

While keeping the original bottom edge of the jeans exposed, tuck the extra length underneath and fold them to your desired length.

Step 3: Approach the original seam line

Roll up the jeans completely and make sure the crease is aligned as close as possible to the original seam at the hem.

Step 4: Flip the bottom edge over

Remove the jeans and turn the bottom edge over without losing the fold you made in step 2.

Step 5: Secure with safety pins

Add safety pins to the inner cuff of your jeans. This will secure your fold in place and the safety pins will not be visible from the outside. Turn the lower legs to the right again.

Step 6: Iron

Iron along your new hem to straighten it and keep it looking flawless!
