I thought I’d try a new series: How to design an office with different decoration styles? First: How to design a preppy-inspired office.
Do you have (or want) a tiki-inspired office? If you yourself have a very preppy style, how do you think this personality would look in your office? Whether you’re in a hybrid, remote or full-time office, how did you design your office?
I had a lot of fun putting together this inspiration board based largely on Lilly Pulitzer stuff.

How to Have a Preppy-Inspired Office if You Work in a Room or Shared Space
I think the trick will be to pick a few pieces that make you happy but don’t overwhelm the space. For me, that means maybe picking up one of those special Lilly-inspired mouse pads, some flashy gold office supplies, and maybe some fun thumbtacks for your office billboard.
How to Have a Stylish Office if You Work in a Law Firm or Other Conservative Field
Your biggest hurdle here will likely be overcoming the “executive brown” furniture you have in your office. I would start by making the space as bright and airy as possible, as much white or beige as you can bring – a white mat on your visitor’s chair(s), a white mat, an ivory or beige cover, maybe even a white (ergonomic) chair if you can rock yourself. I may also try to stick to only white bindings whenever possible, all labeled with a consistent label, sticker, or font.
Once you have a beautiful white or beige floor, THEN you can add highlights like a fun-colored pillow, a cheerful picture frame or two, a pretty flower vase (with real flowers, of course).
On its side of the table, you can get into more chirpy, fun stuff like colorful thumbtacks or more.
How to Have a Preppy-Inspired Home Office
The sky, of course, is the limit here! I’ve seen many offices painted with bold wall colors like hot pink, lime, bright yellow, or some combination of these. You can also check out Spoonflower – there is such a wide selection of wallpapers out there that they definitely have tiki wallpapers. (I believe Lilly Pulitzer has done wallpapers before if you want to take a hunt.)
However, now is the time when you might want to check out Core Prepsters like Tory Burch, Martha Stewart, and Reese Witherspoon—I think most of their offices are still mostly neutral, with light colors like white or beige, bursts of color as fun, bright accents. Bonus points of course if you can mix and match different prints (toilet! Stripes! Floral!) on chairs, walls, and other designs. (Baaah, I have some great resources for this, but I’ll have to research my Instagram/Pinterest stuff – check back later if you’re curious.
