How to build an everyday work wardrobe (petite friendly)

i like working on it smart casual wardrobe postand I often refer to her for her faultless outfit combinations! I got a few requests for a workwear version and what pieces to look for when I’m just getting started. For me, the pieces are pretty similar, but I made a few updates from last time to match casual work attire.

Below are a few of my top-rated items that have blended and matched really well over the years. It’s affordable for different budgets and I also made sure to include some premium options!

bottoms

Once I found the cuts that fit you best, I would start with black, nude, and a lighter beige or cream (actually my favorite pant color). If you prefer cooler tones, try gray and navy blue instead of brown tones. If your office is more stylish and comfortable, you can do similar colors on jeans.

For me, cropped slim ankle pants were my practical default. For a slightly updated look and a looser fit, the J.Crew flats or Theory pants linked below are great options that also work well with flat shoes!

• wide leg trousers – Abercrombie pants. these are amazing crepe.
• Slim ankle trousers – Since no changes are required for minions, J. Crew Cameron And WHBM Comfort Stretch. I’m also a fan of these virals Zara pants – note: too high and I wrapped them.
• straight leg pants – J.Crew Kate pants It is an updated classic.
• Premium selection – Theoretical crepe trouser pull. These are so good! They come all the way below my ankles and fit me similarly to the J.Crew Kate, but with a semi-elastic waistband and lighter, flowy crepe. Note, these fit everywhere more loosely than J.Crew Cameron in 00P.

Jackets

• sweater blazer – J crew (large size) and J.Crew Factory (smaller sizing and closer fit)
• Black+Cream sweater jacket – To express. i love this so much! XS sleeves are a little long but it doesn’t bother me.
• Trench coat – J crew And J.Crew Factory for a shorter trench on minions. Drop for a long light trench pictured above (but requires edge curling on minions)
• Premium Selection – Theory jackets, eg crepe blazer and shorter open blazers.

tops

Black and cream ribbed fitted tops are some of my favorite staples. For building your top collection, I also love blouses with a nice flowing flow, but I also love blouses with a slightly more “live” button-down shirt-like structure. All these tops are versatile enough to wear with denim and other bottoms outside of work, too!
