How It Looks: Halloween Nail Designs

[ad_1]

Whether you’re on the scary or sweet side of Halloween, for us beauty lovers, it’s fun to join the fun and one of the easiest ways to do it is with a themed nail look. This is especially true if you are dealing with sensitive skin and they are not in the idea of painting your face with heavy costume makeup.

With that in mind, we turned to marketing partner Rianna Basurto. bellacuresand asked her to share her three favorite Halloween nail designs with us.

Red Blood Drop Design

“Start by taking your favorite opaque nude or off-white nail polish and apply one coat evenly on each nail – we recommend using the nail polish shade that best suits your skin tone. Once your nails are dry, grab your favorite dark red nail polish. We’ll use it to create this blood drop design, this we used Essie Oxblood for the look. Other great deep red polish options for this look are Essie Bordeaux, OPI Como Se Llama and Dazzle Dry Fast Track Cherry.

To make this design easier to apply, we recommend using a nail decoration tool to start placing red dots on the nail bed. These points will ideally be placed where you want the blood drops to end. You can have some fun with this and change these dots from nail to toe as we don’t want these droplets to look uniform. From here, start dragging the excess color upwards with a thin line brush. These lines do not have to be straight at all, and it is better if they are a little more messy as they go up. Once you have a dragged-up look, tie these drops of blood from side to side along the top of your nail. Once your drips are perfectly formed, fill them with your deep red lacquer to get the full effect! Finish with a top coat. ”

Black and White Striped Nail Design

“For nail lovers who like a simpler look but want to try something different this spooky season, we recommend this fun black and white striped look. After you complete your cuticle care, you can start creating this look by shaping your nails in almond shape.

Apply two coats of your favorite black polish – we chose OPI’s Black Onyx. A few other black finishes we love are OPI We’re In The Black, Essie Licorice, and Ella+Mila Lights Out. Please make sure to allow some drying time between coats to ensure an even polish application! Once these have dried, take a thin brush and apply a solid white line to the center of your nail by dragging the brush from the bottom up, repeating this step on the left and right sides of your nail bed. Complete the same steps on your other nails and apply a second coat of white nail polish to create the pinstripe effect. Finish with a top coat for the perfect glossy effect.

Witchcraft Star Design Black

Once you’re done with your cuticle care, shape your nails into the universally flattering almond shape. Start by applying two coats of your favorite black nail polish to each nail as well as your ring finger – we used Dazzle Dry Midnight Express.

Then take the nail polish that best suits your skin tone and apply two coats on your ring finger.

A few nude polishes we love that flatter a wide range of skin tones are OPI Tiramisu for Two, OPI Samoan Sands, and Essie Illuminates Mood. Once these coats are dry, take a thin brush with black lacquer and draw an upside-down triangle, leaving the bottom end of the triangle open. Repeat this step by drawing a side triangle in the center of the nail bed and finish by connecting the triangles to complete the star. Complete the look with a top coat for maximum shine.
