Whenever I share work attire, one of the most common feedback I get is that some of you don’t like or dislike wearing heels. I posted these a while ago combinations with flat shoes and I wanted to share more ways to re-wear the same flats and basics. If I were to look at the apartment categories I tend to reach for the most in terms of both comfort and versatility, these would be the top 5!
1. Neutral Pointed Flats
These flats are not as soft and comfortable as the other 4 models listed below as they have more structure and a firmer sole, but I reach for them often when I want a more formal, classic look.
For maximum versatility I would choose a tone similar to your skin tone (be it a lighter almond or a darker brown) and while I always prefer a pointed toe for lengthening effect, I love the rounded toe rollback for ballet flats or even slightly square toes. i was watching these M. Ship flats comfort with a little hidden wedge for a while and I wish they made more colors! I’m not sure if this code still works, but you can try the JEAN60 there on your first purchase.
2. Loafers
These have been some of my most worn flats in recent years! I love how they look with work pants as well as jeans and they are very low maintenance. If I go black, it’s easy to touch up or recolor, and leather wipes are easier to clean than fabric and suede. I’ve been playing around with the idea of a more on-trend, chunkier sole loafer for the past two years, but I haven’t found the right pair yet!
2. Flexible Knit Circles
Rothy’s are some of my preferred shoes for travel or hiking because of their flexible and very flexible soles. Sometimes when I sit for long periods of time, like on a plane or at a conference, my feet swell a bit, so stretching here is essential for comfort. Also these don’t have metal leads so I can keep them on when I go through security – I forget my favorite loafers are always running metal detectors! I’ll say the Point style I’m wearing has the least support among its styles, so if that’s what you need, check out sneakers or even loafers for a little extra support.
4. White Sneakers
Essential element of any casual / smart casual office or student wardrobe. I cycle heavily between my Vejas and Everlane sneakers for daily school pickup and drop-off and recently got to try the Madewells linked above and as a more comfortable option than Vejas I really like them!
5. Slingbacks
I love the effortless chic feel of an open-back pair with jeans and a blazer. If your feet tend to swell or shrink during the day like mine, then having an open back is good for comfort too! These are an example of an Edited Part we’re working on and yet to be produced, but some of ASOS’s cute affordable they usually bring it back with new colors. Also, while this slingback it’s not flat, the kitten heel is pretty low, and I love how flattering the deep V-cut front is! I’ve bought them in 2 colors over the years and they are fine for walking around the city.
