The most cost-effective way to build your wardrobe is to use quality pieces that you can mix and match to create multiple outfits. The more often and uniquely you style each piece, the more sustainable your wardrobe becomes. I’d rather have fewer, more versatile parts than the millions of cheaper parts that I know contribute to our overflowing dumps and don’t make a living wage for the workers who make them. For this month’s 50+ Style Edit, Cindy and I share how we wear the pieces in a variety of ways, and I share five ways to wear a black blazer.
So what can you wear with a black blazer? I think a better question is, what can’t you wear it with? Plus-size blazers are in fashion in 2022, but any black blazer will do. Today I style my black knit riding jacket with plenty of stretch.
Black Blazer And Bootcut Jeans

Jeans and a blazer are an ideal choice for me in the fall because the weather is rarely cold enough for a full coat. This casual outfit features a pop of color in my black bootcut jeans, black booties, knit blazer, and cashmere sweater. I have several pairs of these barely boot jeans and I love the fit.
The sweater is from last year, but Norstrom brought it back and noted it down. Nubuck booties are a few years old, but they keep bringing them back, probably because they’re so comfortable. I added a few silver earrings, a liquid silver bracelet A precious necklace that I have had forever and can’t get enough of.
Black Blazer And Formal Skirt

Traveling with a black blazer is easy because it is suitable for both stylish and casual looks. Here I have it favorite chiffon long skirt, low cat heels and a velvet tank top. I grabbed an old suede clutch and added some sparkle with drop earrings, an old belt, and my old pin.
Seeing this, I wonder why I didn’t wear this to the black-tie gala we attended. last weekend. I think a little sparkle goes a long way in clothes, so dotting it in three places helps move the eye but keeps it above the waist. I’m after someone selling more Babette outfits. She closed its doors in 2016 and no one has copied her looks yet. eBay has a few pieces here I keep my eye on.
Black Blazer on Color Column

Here I threw on a charcoal gray column, adding a pearly gray lasso for a subtle shine and my black and ivory snake-print block heel booties. Black goes so well with all shades of gray that it’s a common pairing for me. This looks great on any color, including red for the holidays.
Animal Print and Pearls Black Blazer

Here, I’m wearing straight jeans with an animal print top and simple black booties. I added pearl studs and a few necklaces. Why swap a single necklace when you can combine multiple necklaces together? Freshwater Pearl company sent me a few of these. magnetic closure necklace I decided to put them together to give it a try. With my arthritic fingers, these magnetic closures are awesome! I added a smooth leather belt to help keep my blouse in.
Cashmere T-Shirt and Velvet Flat Black Blazer

I replaced it with plain velvet shoes (very comfortable), a cashmere T-shirt, a pin my mom gave me years ago, and a thin, thin scarf. Silver rings and a liquid silver bracelet complete the look. I could have added a bracelet, but I wear so few patterns that I felt the scarf added enough detail for an ordinary day of errands. I’m always happy when velvet season comes because these are Birdies apartments very comfortable and coordinated with many things.
