Reader Question: After finishing Visualize Your Style, I realized that a large part of my personality is feminine. Looks like I can find feminine shoes for warmer weather. But how do I find feminine winter shoes? What details am I looking for to add feminine touches? Preferably casual shoes, not heels!
When Your Feet Should Be Feminine
This was a totally relevant question because I also prefer a more feminine style of footwear, although I have a high urge for comfort in my shoes, I don’t want them to be attractive or overly masculine. So, if you feel the same way, I’ve put together this video and shopping boards to help you find more feminine winter shoes!
When I saw these butterfly sneakers I knew they had to come home with me because I was finding sneakers that weren’t very feminine, so finding ones with a more feminine aesthetic made my day!
Heels make shoes and boots more feminine, but they can be cumbersome and uncomfortable, so if you don’t want to wear anything but a small heel, how do you add femininity to your winter shoes and boots? I found loads of shoes, and in the video below I give some great tips on what makes a shoe feminine, even without a heel.
Remember, many of these styles I’ve chosen often have more colors available. so click on the boards here so you can find where I found these shoes and see all the other color options!
Metallic, Shiny and Fancy
A really easy way is to get a shiny, sparkly or metallic look on your winter shoes and boots.
These are my sequin boots and I love them (and they always get a comment or two).
Flower Patterns
Floral or circular patterns are part of the feminine personality style and are another easy way to add a feminine touch to your boots and shoes during the winter months.
These boots are not only made of floral print, but also velvet, which gives it a soft feminine feel.
Lady Laces
There are feminine elements to these lace-up shoes. Consider that the thickness of the sole is not so “work boot” like a thinner sole, curved little heel or small heel, and that the boot comes from the ankle to accentuate it (rather than being loose and wide), so it’s like a certain dress.
More rounded or pointed rather than square or chunky toe boxes.
Consider a very small fur detail (if it’s cold or just for fun) alongside other decorative details.
Decorative Details
Small decorative studs for your shoes that are like jewellery, or a wrap-around strap or a bow that is the ultimate feminine tie.
These embroidered-edge boots take a boring nude boot and turn it into something more interesting and feminine.
Colored Suede
Suede is a softer cover with more yin than a hard leather cover with more yang. Despite being a glossy finish like a patent, it also adds a more glamorous feel that adds femininity to the shoes. Add color to make your shoes look a little more Classic and something a little more. more personality
These are the shoes I recently dyed (click here to learn more).
Decorative Cutouts
They are like the lace on your underwear and the decorative cutouts on your shoes add interest to your shoes as well as create a beautiful feminine feel.
I fell in love with these boots the moment I saw them – the rose gold plating on the back with decorative cutouts makes them both practical and interesting!
