Festive Decor Ideas for Memorial Day and Beyond

[ad_1]

Memorial Day is fast approaching. To me (and my AWSL readers in the US), it marks the official start of summer. On top of that, this is the day we commemorate those brave military men and women who made the greatest sacrifice and became martyrs while serving our country. They and their families are in my thoughts and prayers.

Memorial Day also seems to be the unofficial start to summer, and everyone is trying to prepare the outdoor space for a season of fun and extra time with friends and family. Today, I’m going to share some festive decor ideas to help you prepare for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and beyond. Whether it’s updating your outdoor lighting, buying throw pillows or adding a fun twist with patriotic plates and bowls, it’s a great time of year to invest in a few new outdoor and fun pieces that you’ll use all season. .

Solar Lanterns

Keeping candles or lanterns lit and having to change votives can be a headache. These solar powered lanterns are the perfect solution and will add just the right amount of light to your table or patio.

String Lights

Adding string lights to any space can really change the ambiance from mediocre to magical, especially if you’re hosting friends and family in the evening.

Flag Pillow

While I’m not one to go decorating for different holidays, this would be an easy thing to add and put in the closet when I’m not using it. Pillows are an easy way to decorate without going overboard. You can put this on your outdoor sofa or even an indoor chair.

Barbecue Grill Tool Set

For many people, Memorial Day is the unofficial start of grilling season. But when was the last time you changed your grill tools? Ours is pretty heavily used so I like to update ours at the beginning of the season.

Beverage Tub

If you’re hosting a large group, a drinking tub like this can be a great option for your guests to serve themselves. Simply fill with ice and the drinks of your choice for an easy and clean-looking presentation.

Star Serving Plates

Speaking of caterers, how fun are these star-shaped serving platters? Fill them with nuts, chips or even sauce and deflate. Even if you don’t have guests, these are a fun and festive way to serve small bites before dinner or with drinks.

Blue Glasses

These vintage-inspired blue goblets are beautiful! They will elevate the look of your summer tables in your dining room, add charm to the china cabinet, and look quite full with iced tea on the patio. Also available in highball and old-fashioned versions!

Round Blue Placemats

I love finding decor that can be used outside of the holidays – these blue placemats do just that! They’re neutral enough to be used all year, yet still feel festive whenever you want them.

Reusable Red and White Gingham Plates

When hosting a backyard barbecue or even hosting grandchildren, exposing your glass plates can be risky. I wanted to find a better option as I don’t like the wastefulness of paper plates. These reusable gingham ones are adorable and dishwasher safe.

Blue Gingham Napkins

I like to use cloth napkins as a way to be more sustainable than paper napkins. These nostalgic blue and white plaid napkins are actually on trend right now, but they never go out of style.

Star Mop

The simplest way to add some festive decor is to use a new doormat. This star-studded doormat is pretty enough for the patriot at heart to leave it out all summer or year-round.
