Ointments differ from creams in that they have a higher oil content in them and as a result they are recommended for the treatment of eczema as they better maintain the skin moisture barrier and also sting less on any raw skin spots, redness and open wounds.
Our go-to Cerave Healing Ointment also has the National Eczema Association seal of acceptance and is one of Nick’s must-haves since she started using it last year! We literally have a tub of these in every room. We lightly pat dry, cracked or red spots in a thick layer and want it to be less sticky than Aquaphor. Again, frequency is key, so we make sure to apply it to problem areas several times a day.
