Fashion Moon Fall 2022 was a work in contradictions. It seems like every designer has offered some sort of riff on the infamous micro-skirts that Spring 2022 brought us by Miuccia Prada. Not to mention micro shorts and dresses. On the other hand, epic high-waisted trousers and skirts also became popular. It is not fully balanced.
That’s not all. Necklines hit new lows. Which can work on Red carpet, but not in real life. (See Mônot.) Then there were cold shoulders. So instead of revealing the abs, the shoulders and arms provided a piece of meat.
A few trends have shown some real staying power. Although both have evolved a bit. The ever-present opera gloves are now attached to tops and dresses. Or in the same tones as tops and dresses for a flawless effect.
Tie dye has also reappeared. Only this time the patterns were more elaborate. In other words, less Grateful Dead and more hippie chic. Issey Miyake has even provided an elegant look that you can wear to almost work, in or out of the office. zoom in. Just be sure to check with HR first.

Micro Mania
Miuccia Prada introduced micro skirts to the world last season through Miu Miu. The shortened silhouette actually makes sense for spring and summer. This season everyone (including Miu Miu) has included it in their collections. She used a belt instead of a diesel skirt. Courrèges adopted microdresses, while Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini and Miu Miu provided short shorts. Having cold legs is apparently the price you have to pay for fashion in September.

At the opposite end of the spectrum are high waists. In extreme fashion, designers continued to raise the bar. Acne Studios offered certain trousers and skirts just below the models’ busts. Burberry designed a belted jumpsuit. Sometimes it was just an illusion. Balmain piled up complementary belts. Christian Dior, on the other hand, used corsets to increase the rise of his trousers.

Opera Gloves 2.0
It looks like the opera gloves are here to stay. This time, most people were hooked on tops and dresses. Popular gloves, which create a similar silhouette, were also worn over matching outfits. It makes it difficult to distinguish where the gloves stay and where the shirt or dress begins.

It’s a Wrap
The street style set may still be fans of oversized scarves, but that tune may change in the fall. Many models had thin scarves wrapped around their necks. Also, blouses with bows took action by allowing their ties to droop.

Cold Cold Shoulders
Be prepared to show some shoulders. Cold shoulders are everywhere. Exposure ranged from skin peeking to upper arms venting. Balmain drew extra attention to them by layering a corset top on top. Meanwhile, Akris and Loewe sent red carpet-worthy dresses to their respective runways.

Elie Saab gave us the option of an elegant hoodie, and Max Mara created a vest version designed with opera gloves. Roksanda teamed up with Fila to take sporty jackets into high fashion.
