I have a few events and outings this summer and I was shopping for something a little more special than my usual staples! If I’m in the mood for color, Farm Rio is a Brazilian brand I love, known for its unique, vibrant prints and small details. While her long styles are a bit overwhelming in a shorter frame, I recommend checking out her jumpsuits and mini dresses, which I find quite petite-friendly. Below are a few pertinent notes about the last styles I ordered!
one. Belted V-Neck Romper
After much discussion, I didn’t hold onto it but loved the silhouette and the mauve color – even Nick couldn’t help commenting on how flattering it was. Visually tightens the waist with cropped, half-open sleeves and A-line shorts. Made from 100% organic cotton, covered buttons on the front and an intricate beaded belt.
In fit, the button-down waist works without stretch on the relaxed side and fits me in a size XS. The neckline leaves room for my chest and the torso fits better on someone with a slightly taller or fuller bust, but minions can try a quick DIY fix using two safety pins. Neckline spacing is common for me on undercut pieces, so my trick is to create a small crease on each side using excess collar fabric and safety pin down the pleats on either side.
2. Embroidered Mini Dress
There are so many beautiful details to discover in this dress from every angle! In this post, I have shown her dressed with flat sandals and a straw bag or with heels and clutch. This assessment another petite customer pointed out that this piece has a feminine, whimsical and beautiful quality. It also caught my attention as it is made of a linen-viscose blend, which has a softer touch than normal linen, and is soft and comfortable.
Adding to the comfort factor, the back is shirred to stretch with a side zipper for easy entry. It has gorgeous eyelet lace detail on both sleeves and crochet trim along the neckline and hem. The torso and waist have room to wiggle on me, so I’d say it fits the XS size perfectly. The dress is also sold here.
3. Pineapple Garden Jumpsuit
This piece was just my go-to for blue print and cool and cozy linen-blend fabric. Perfect for a recent Cape Cod visit, I wore it comfortably in my flat Sam Edelman sandals and studded with wedges for dinner.
The straps on the XS work on a petite frame, but as the sizes increase, they’ll likely get longer and need to be shortened for petite. The fit was TTS everywhere else, and the sash belt helps add some waist definition. FYI, the website description says the front center buttons are decorative and not functional, but they are definitely functional!
