Elegant Neutral Color Combinations // Petite Workwear Ideas

I’m looking forward to a few live pieces I ordered for spring, but the bleak cold weather here still keeps me in neutral mode. My wardrobe has become neutral over the years as it makes dressing up so much faster, but I’m looking forward to bringing some more color in the coming months. For now, here are a few of my neutral combinations that always feel flashy!

1. Olive + Black + Cream

Olive and black have always been a basic combination, and adding a lighter color like cream to the mix helps brighten it up, and in this case, add some protection to a deep-necked cardigan. If your legs get cold, I’ll wear the same outfit as my wife. sheertex tights (in my opinion) and black ankle booties.

2. Navy Blue + Brown + Taupe

Navy blue is probably the most versatile neutral in my wardrobe, and a combo I see and love less often is navy blue with various shades of chocolate brown or brown.

I’m not talking about these Theoretical pull-on crepe trousers enough, but a great piece that I’ve bought in several colors over the years. If you prefer medium waist to my usual high waisted trousers, definitely check out these. The crepe material is raised, flowy and does not crumple. The cut is stylish and classic. I didn’t even realize they added a size 000, which is fine for very petite customers because I found these were a bit loose at the waist.

Size 00 measures 12.75 inches at waist (plus stretch with elasticated back), 9 inches high, 25.5 inches inseam. I am currently about 25″ at natural high waist and 00 suits me with medium height.

3. Gray + Almond

Gray and beige sound good, but I love the soft color palette of two light neutrals that result. This cardigan has an oversized cut on a petite frame and substantial weight like a “coat”, and in cold weather you can wear a knee-high boot to further cover your legs.

4. Black + White + Camel

5. Shades of Blue + Taupe

I like to do different shades of a single color like light blue with jeans and a light taupe blazer here with deeper taupe shoes and a handbag. This blazer has a straighter cut and a slightly more relaxed fit on the body; see me here with full length sleeves.
