Editing Over 50 Styles in Black and White Linen

It’s going to rain a little this week and the temperatures have dropped again, but I changed my wardrobe and prepared for the warm weather I knew was coming. When summer comes here, I plan to escape the heat and live almost entirely in light cotton and linen. I know many women struggle with linen creases, and it’s an afterthought, but I can’t live without it.

For our over 50 style edits this month, Cindy and I share how we packed a few lavishly gifted Eileen Fisher pieces into our spring wardrobe. Everything capable is marked as c/o. Mixing and matching pieces helps expand your wardrobe so it’s easier to get dressed. There is nothing easier than black and white, so today I show you a few ways to mix things up.

Here is a white column, at the top airy, crochet linen top. I have so many fond memories of a similar sweater years ago that it was invaluable to go over so many things to cover the sleeves. This one looks larger than usual and I could wear an XS so I recommend going one size smaller. If it came in white, I would have ordered immediately. Since my top is bigger than the bottom, I tucked this in my front pocket. mom straight leg jeans to show a figure. I kept the details simple in this look so as not to overwhelm the braid of this top. I wear pearl studs this short black seed bead and pearl necklace because anything longer can get stuck on the top.

For this look, I paired a cropped organic linen cardigan over a simple black cotton/spandex tank top. This is a look I’ll be wearing all spring. The cardigan length (non-existent) salutes my waist without having to tuck anything in. This is a great little cardigan for covering the sleeves that won’t be too hot in the summer. It will be a little warmer than the blue one I shared here because black absorbs the sun and makes you feel warmer. My jeans are straight leg medium blue wash and I added my super comfortable Franco Sarto sandals.

Here, I threw the same little cardigan over my Eileen Fisher cotton dress. Here I have designed 5 ways for you.. A few ladies thought this dress hit my leg in an ugly, wide spot, but here you can see it wasn’t. I have to get on my photographer (husband) to watch those angles 🤣.

I added an Eileen Fisher Obi belt (similar here) as old as these tops and bare sandals to elongate my legs. FYI, wrist straps visually cut your legs at the ankle, and they usually don’t stretch. But if it’s a tan shade that suits your complexion, you can get away with it.

Here I am making a match button-up white linen dressWorn as a duster over a white tank top and black linen trousers. I love a plain white dress in the summer, but since I know me, I’m going to wear this more like a duster than a dress. It has 4 colors and I couldn’t resist the classic white. linen trousers They are much flattering than most pull-on styles because they zip up the front and add less bulk around the tummy, but still have an elastic waist. It has four colors and is a great weight for summer, so I picked up the natural color.

Here is the same linen dress I wore with a black tank top over my white jeans. I grew up in a tank because I hate them sticking to my hull. I would love this look too, with a white tank top or another pale color column underneath. I would wear it as a dress with a natural straw bag, raffia earrings and nude sandals.

This all-over black linen look is dotted with bare wedges only. a silver bracelett is a short necklace and my favorite hoop earrings. I could wear black sandals but these days I really like the effect of nude shoes. I’ve had these wedges for years (similar here) and finds them very comfortable.
