Edited Parts Duo Coat xxs, Reversible Horsebit belt xxs, 6″ Nora Bracelet, Gemma hoop earrings

Oh my god, guys. It feels surreal that, after working quietly on this for several years, Edited Pieces is almost ready to share with you all. Like many startups, it was born from plugging in late at night, early in the morning, and during those magical moments when both babies were truly asleep at the same time. Yet none of them could have come to fruition without your support. From all of you who filled out our first survey, to the readers who helped with the fit tests in Boston, to my small but mighty team that supported it all – thank you!

For our first few pieces, I wanted to go back to why I started this blog 12 years ago. More than learning how to put clothes together, it was about helping myself and others feel confident and strong despite their size and height. And I have to admit, wearing my own pieces in the city and being stopped by strangers asking for them was the best feeling!

At launch we have a limited collection of items, each handcrafted in small quantities. A few additional styles are being tweaked and enhanced and these will become available to shop around. Edited Parts as they are ready!

Sizing and fit

For apparel, our pattern is designed to be petite-friendly, with some pieces (like our upcoming knit pencil skirt) that will work at various heights. Shoes will be in sizes 4 to 9 to begin with. In accessories, we offer sizes starting from XXS for belts and narrow wrist options for bracelets.

Since this is our first collection, I know we have a lot to learn about body measurements. To help customers choose the right size for each style, we have done several different body type fit tests to share as a reference. Our initial size range was based on demand (according to a survey that thousands of people helped me fill out a few years ago!) and I’ll be looking closely at feedback for our future size offers.

For convenient reference: I’m just under 5 feet tall, 32-25-32 and size 5 to 5.5 in shoes.

Launch Ranking

Our first collection ranges from $48 to $348.

1. Reversible Horsebit Belt

About the belt: Two timeless belts on one, our reversible belt features soft black Nappa leather on one side and textured cognac Saffiano leather on the other. The design maintains a clean and elegant look with the belt tail neatly concealed rather than fluttering around. For ultimate versatility, the buckle can be removed from the strap and replaced with any future belt styles we release (color suggestions are welcome)!

We have partnered with an incredible belt manufacturer who has been making belts for 15 years, with a strong emphasis on environmentally responsible processes and material traceability. Their skins are sourced from LWG certified tanneries and finished in-house. I spent many nights with our contact at the factory who patiently taught me the art of belt making and helped perfect this belt after a dozen revisions.

sizing: From XXS to XL. This is meant to be worn higher at the natural waistline, so some fit testers took one size larger than usual. Please take the time to measure your waist and compare with our belt size chart on the site! If you plan to wear it lower near your hips or belt it over blazers and coats, consider going 1 size up.

I live in denim and solid colors and this belt was the perfect finishing piece to pull everything together. I also love it over a dress, workwear, blazer or coat!

2. Nora Bracelet, Constance Necklace and Gemma Hoop Earrings

I don’t often wear jewelry for many reasons. My ears are very sensitive to both material and weight. My wrists go around tight edges and many pieces fit too loosely or get in my way while typing.

To launch our jewelery line, we worked with a New England business whose jewelery making has been in their family for generations. My picky self is definitely not the easiest client and they were great at addressing my concerns above and helping to refine simple yet elegant pieces that elevate everyday outfits.

We’ve made fun Gemma earrings light as a feather and hypoallergenic, and sized to please the eye without being too big. The Gold Nora Bracelet (comes in 2 lengths) almost never leaves my wrist and I always get compliments. The Constance necklace is just beautiful with a simple V or square neck top and jeans. All of our jewelry also comes packaged in a gift-ready box and pouch designed by Nick.

3. Double Jacket

For our first coat, we went with an oversized midi style rather than a tailored fit because over the years I’ve had more luck finding a second one. I just love the casual look of the oversized, flowy wool jacket, but most of the ones I’ve tried from mainstream retailers are ridiculously long or overwhelming.

About the jacket: Our extra versatile Duo jacket is handmade using luxurious double-faced wool. It’s completely reversible so you get two classic coats in one and effortlessly worn open or with a belt. Our coat partner is a small women-run factory that has been specializing in the production of woolen outerwear for decades. We went through 6 rounds of samples before we got a unique piece that we love together.

This has been my daily coat all season long as it can be easily combined with work wear, evening wear or casual weekend wear. I usually wear mine open with the belt removed, like a thick coat.

Material: Our double faced wool is made from two layers of wool fused together (without separate lining) and hand-sewn. The coat is medium weight, for layering.

To cut: Wide, comfortable, loose fit that can be worn over chunky sweaters or blazers. When unbelted, the silhouette is straight along both sides.

The sleeves are cut to be petite friendly, so it can fit full size or bracelet length depending on the wearer’s body type and arm length. I love that they can be cuffed to show a glimpse of the opposite color. Most fit testers 5’2″ or under found the sleeves to be full length. For longer fit testers it ranged from wrist to 3/4 length depending on the wearer’s arms.

sizing: XXS – Big. The XXS has plenty of room on me and my mother-in-law wears a size XS (5’2, 34-28-36, size 4 to 6 at other brands). Similarly, stick to your regular size for a great fit, or downsize 1 size for a closer fit. If you’re usually between two sizes, I recommend going one size down.

Testers with curvy or fuller breasts opted to stick with their regular size (rather than going full size, which made it too roomy in other areas), but keep in mind that there will be less overlap in the front for wearing the jacket closed and belted. .

Maintenance notes: The coat folds on arrival, so hang it up and wear it a few times for the folds to come off. Or use a clothes steamer (do not iron). I found that the cover on this coat gets better with wear!
