Happy Tuesday ladies. Today I have a small dressing room diary with new prints at Talbots for you. If you’re new here, welcome. Locker room diary, when I go to a local store for a trial session, you can see what’s new and how it looks on a woman over 25.
For reference, I’m 5’4″ and weigh around 138 lbs with broad shoulders and straight hips. I have a long torso and arms so I usually get a size up. I try on clothes in colors and shapes that may or may not spoil me so you can see what’s in store and get style ideas. To help you understand how things work, I tell you what sizes I wear.

This 100% cotton voile midi dress It features a large abstract, patterned print. The fit and flare shape gives a feminine feel that is understated and beautiful. It’s fully lined with 100% cotton so there’s no need for polyester slips in hot weather, it’s always a win/win in my book. I wear a quad petite that is tight on me, so I’d say it’s a size fit and I would be better off in a six.
Many ladies don’t like to wear sleeveless, so I tried it with a few different sweaters. one in the middle open stitch cotton/modal shrug. It comes in 5 colors, it’s a little darker than the aqua in this dress print but I like that it stays at the waist so it doesn’t visually distort the shape of the dress. I’m wearing small. one on the right linen girlfriend cardigan in a small environment. The color matches exactly with the water in the dress, but it looks shapeless and obscures the lines of the dress. A great sweater in 3 colors, I just don’t like this dress.
This ruffle trim denim shell It’s a top seller on Talbots so I was looking forward to trying it. This looks more like chambray than jeans to me because it’s so lightweight. 100% cotton with a straight cut that fits the hips. I wear a petite medium size that fits well so it stays true to size. This would be cute with a lot of things this summer too.
On the left, I’m wearing washed linen wide leg trousers with a drawstring waist. I’m wearing the linen petite so they’re a bit wide but the look is supposed to be loose. They come in 3 colors. On the right, I’m wearing this is stovepipe jeans this is very fitting. They have a high rise and are fitted at the hip with a straight leg in a cropped length. I wear 4 petite with 22 1/2″ inseam. Ladies have a 26 inch inseam.
This boat neck tee It comes in 24 colors, so it’s clear that it’s a client favorite! I love the lightweight Pima cotton and 3/4 sleeves. I wear a small medium that fits well for them to run TTS. This is cotton voile maxi skirt there is summer fun all around. I wish I had bought it for my trips to Mexico and Hawaii. It has 100% cotton linen fabric, so it provides great airflow in sweltering weather. I’m wearing a petite 35″ tall. Essences will be 37″ long.
MORE PRINT ON TALBOTS
This tassel frill blouse It caught my attention because I love its fabric and pattern. It sells out pretty fast because this medium size was the closest size I could find to try… and it’s huge. The snatches measure 28″, so it’s long enough to wear as a tunic over leggings or tight pants. It looks pretty bulky over straight-leg jeans, so I zipped it up and preferred more proportion for me.
Here are the same wide-leg linen pants I showed above, this time in a petite little calm blue. Did I mention how much I love trouser pockets? The 3D handles of this sweater are green, but they pair nicely with the blue of the pants. This ivory sweater with buttercup yellow flowers looks so perfect for spring with these clear blue pants. I’m wearing a small sweater.
You already know where I’m going with this outfit… with baggy pants, it’s best to have a top that shows off your shape a little. these pants There is a comfortable Invisaflex waistband in the back but I still prefer to have them covered so I tied the shirt just below my waist. They are 100% linen. and it comes in 5 colors. This tropical printed shirt It is also a favorite of customers as they are almost sold out. I got my hands on this small size and actually love this loose fit. There are so many soft colors in print that I find it goes well with tons of other things.
Linen isn’t every woman’s cup of tea, but I love it when the weather is high. I have made peace with wrinkles and I see them as a sign of quality 🙂
